22:30 You are right Nate, Ralphie didn't break his glasses during the fight. He had dropped them before he charged Scut, and while he's beating Scut up, the film shows Randy save them, and he ran off to get the mom. The reason why Ralphie was crying because he was just an emotional wreck by this point, and probably scared that he would get in trouble for cursing so much, as they explain later. However, when his mother shows up, I don't think he was scared yet, just full of emotions because he just got a C+ on the paper about the gift he wants so badly for Christmas, and now he thinks he won't get it, and then the two bullies hit him right in the eye with a snowball (which hurts like hell!), and then Scut taunts him, causing him to explode. Naturally seeing the face of his mother worried about him after his breakdown would cause him to cry.

I looked it up, and it's talked about how their native language doesn't distinguish between R and L, but rather the sound in between. It's a cultural phoneme distinction.

I grew up with this before all the 24 hour stuff. My family would watch "A Christmas Carol (1951)" on Christmas Eve, and "A Christmas Story" on Christmas Day. I had a moment like The Old Man a few years ago. My parents opened a surprise present my brother and I got them, a framed professionally taken picture of my brother and I dressed up. My dad (may he rest in peace) cried upon seeing it and said "My boys." He kept it on his work desk from that point on. My Mom keeps the other in their bedroom.

Actually the sad truth is that both Bob Clark and his son Ariel were killed in a head on car crash in 2007. Clark was 67, and Ariel was only 22. May they both rest in peace.

The thing about it is, it was never supposed to be hyped. It’s not meant to be a groundbreaking masterpiece. But it is, imo, quite easily the most genuine and relatable Christmas movie ever made. Which is why it’s special to many people. Doug explains it very well.

I saw the new sequel and I can say that it is good. Not as good as the original, but you can tell they tried to show respect to the original movie.

"The best Christmas gift I had received or would ever receive." This movie takes place in Christmas 1940. We know this because of the new decoder-pin he received was a real-product, a 1940 Speed-O-Matic. This would mean Ralphie's next Christmas would take place in December 1941.

Even to this day A Christmas Story is one of my all time favorite Christmas movies along with The Muppet Christmas Carol, Home Alone, Black Christmas, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Look Who's Talking Now had the potential to be a very good, very funny, and very real film. Unfortunately, the filmmakers destroyed it with the talking dogs, and the fantasy element at the end of the film.

I had never fully watched A Christmas Story until like 2021 or 2022 (yes it took me that to watch it) I can understand why it's people's favorite movie and it's getting way too overexposed

I honestly liked the 24 hour Christmas Story marathon. One of my dad and my favorite Christmas movies. We would just have it playing with friends and family coning over. Most of the time we werent focusing on it but doing our normal Christmas thing maybe occasionally watching certain parts. Then at one point we would all sit down and watch it beginning to end

@ that would make sense to me. I never took that these weren’t parents that never talk to each other. Maybe they saw the ad that Ralphie hid in the mom’s magazine and they had some kind of conversation about it. The only explanation we got from the dad was “ I had one at that age “. Okay, great but how does that explain how you knew to get it

Same. This is my grandfather favorite movie and while I love him with all my heart, his obsession is partly to blame why I can’t stand movies like A Christmas Story and the Sandlot.

Honestly, I love this movie. It shows a great (and at points honest) family dynamic, but also shows three things; the joy of getting something wanted, the joy of seeing the person receive it, and just the joy/beauty in simple moments. I understand why you don't like it, it's your opinion after all. I just have a different opinion.
