Like Miss Shields questioning Ralphie, all like “Ralphie, you’re Flick’s friend; surely you must know where he is?” Ralphie like “Don’t look at me!” Miss Shields probably thinking “Hmm, how odd; I bet Ralph is probably lying to me.” Interesting trivia: Until I got my own DVD of this movie(and turned on the subtitles) I could never make out the name of the girl who raises her hand(subtitles say Esther Jane.) It always sounded like “Sister something” to me, which I knew couldn’t be right.

When I was about ten, I tested the theory on the metal shelf guard in the freezer. My tongue stuck. I only had to breathe out really hard, and the warmth from that got my tongue free. Although, I was also in a warm house. Flick was out in the cold, so that might not have worked.

This has always been my favorite Christmas movie. One time I was outside in what the temperature felt like 5 degrees F and I stuck my tongue to a wheelbarrow outside in the back yard. I would’ve been stuck for a while if my dog didn’t start licking my hands and made me start laughing. But when I realized I was stuck I just started thinking of this scene and was trying to figure out how to get out of that situation. Then I did the same thing AGAIN and got my lips frozen to a piece of metal. I thought it was hilarious, but my mom was mad at me fire it like I forced somebody else to do it. Then she scolded me and said “the kid who got straight A’s in the second quarter…” Oh well, I learned my lesson TWICE.

It has to at least be below 32F (0 °C) and the pole has to be metal, frozen, yet still looks "dry" on it's surface. You can actually simulate the same thing with a frozen popsicle.

Seeing that old brick school building in the middle of winter, with the kids playing out in the snow, and the Christmas decorations inside is like a time machine for me back to my middle school days. My middle school was a beautiful old brick building in the center of my small town. It was built in the 1920s and was easily the most beautiful building I’ve ever been inside of for an extended period of time. Going to school there felt like being inside of some old castle, like a real life version of Harry Potter. It had big grand staircases at the entrances, a beautiful auditorium on the 2nd floor with big red curtains, a big old gym, and all kinds of old unused areas that were talked about as a kind of lore. Kids said there was an old unused pool in the basement that nobody was allowed near. I just absolutely loved that building. It was beautiful in every season. Now it’s only used for special education and a faculty building. I think it’s a dam shame. The 2 middle schools in my town have been combined into 1. It’s just a big, soulless modern building that looks exactly like every other building that has been built in the last 20 years
