The way I'm watching this while procrastinating my 3 university assignments which are due on Monday 💀 (and they are deferrals as well...)

RIP i hope you get some progress done on them lol

This is soooo relatable. I want more videos like this! It’s good to see our human experience represented on the internet. Instead of that toxic, perfectionist study style that makes you feel like a *failure* that needs to be *fixed* (which is not true at all!)

I think it would be funny and cute to hang a sign saying "procrastination station" above my desk at home ..., but then the sign would just become a constant reminder of the truth😆

“Procrastination station” stickers maybe?? 🤔 do we have a merch idea here??

Congratulations for submitting an insightful article to the journal publications! You should totally celebrate after all your tremendous hard work and submitting the first draft of your thesis?!? I am just beyond blown away by your academic achievements and that, you are a true warrior! 🎉🎉🎉 This reminded me that I need to start prepping for the second half of the semester of my second year. I know 6,000 words is a lot, but you have grown so much. You are my inspiration to advance further into my education.

@@KatieIbsen You're so welcome! I am so glad that you documented through the entire academic journey all the way to master's to show how exhausting and difficult it is through life and kept it real and raw. Of course, the best of all, you did not stop. You kept on going in the road. Thank you, and best wishes for your final semester ever!

I hope this doesn't sound rude, but you give me hope that I can go to graduate school. I'm so bad when it comes to time management and being late, but I realize that even graduate students make mistakes, so I don't need to be perfect
@KatieIbsen6 ай бұрын
That’s not rude at all! I’m glad my videos can take away that luster of perfection that academia seems to be and show that it’s actually just full of imperfect people doing their best ♥️

Thank you so much for sharing. ❤ I'm currently in a similar situation with my Masters thesis😵 Hearing your experience has really helped me feel better about how wild my process has been thus far. I'm hopeful that I'll do all I need to in time for my submission.

loved this video Katherine! it's so wild to me how much similarities there seems to be between being a grad student w adhd and being a grad student with ocd. I find so many of the strategies you mentioned super helpful, especially body doubling!! congrats on submitting the draft 🤍

I’m glad you had success with your meds. The timing is definitely key. I didn’t get on with my meds. Elvanse (I believe it’s the same as Vyvanse, just a different name in the uk) made me far more anxious than usual, and I tried a few variations of the Methylphenidate, settling on a child sized version of 10mg to get around the side effects. That lasted for a while, but I eventually got to a point where the side effects were outweighing the benefits. When I stopped taking them before Christmas, it was hard to deal with the procrastination, impulsivity and lack of focus that came back, and I’ve had to find the balance again. I’m glad that I tried the meds, as I didn’t know what these things felt like and it kind of makes it easier now because I’ve had that experience. If I can find a better medication, I’ll try again, but I seem to always have bad luck like that, so I may need to shrug my shoulders at some point.

Yeah, the anxious feeling/the heart pounding feeling is something I definitely get. I don't love it, but I find that it goes away if i'm more consistent with my meds and make sure to eat more frequently. At this point, it doesn't outweigh the benefits for me but I also just... don't take my meds if I don't feel like it 😅
