We built these rails through the mountains with a ⚒️ picks and shovels. The giant equipment we have now,we can and will surely build it back. What ever obstacles, the railroad will always find a way.

Recognized that blue Broyhill blanket your wife had in her hand as you opened the supplies. We have one we use, and 16 new ones are headed for distribution points in Erwin and Elizabethton Wednesday a.m. as I drive up for the Clinchfield Rome railfan event starting Thursday. Obviously going north this year after going south last year through Erwin, down to Marion. Not sure what we'll see but we're headed for Lynch, KY's coal mining museum at a minimum. Keep up the great work.

It’s like Hurricane Katrina back in August 2005 and the CSX NO&M sub (New Orleans and Mobile) and it took 6 months to rebuild the line

Harbor freight has the small generators,they are not as good as a Honda but I have one that I use for construction and it works well.Dont know where a harbor freight is near you because I’m in California. Great footage as I have been around ports and feed mills my whole life and most people don’t realize how important that rail infrastructure is and the vast quantities of materials that are moved by rail!

Kudos to you! It would be real interesting to see the reconstruction of the trackage in the gorge, but unless you have wings, there’s no way to view it! The bridges at Poplar are another very interesting element, and I wonder if the spans are recoverable, and if they’d be useable. I also wonder if the bridge at the Erwin end of the gorge survived. And what about damage to the loops above Old Fort? I’ve heard reports from NS employees that the damage was severe, and repairs were probably not going to happen due to the light use that line sees. None of those employees work in that part of the state, so that info isn’t carved in stone!

I took a skid steer and chainsaw to Ashville area helping cleaning roads. I am trying to go back in a few weeks to do more. Definitely a lot of damage
