Impressive! This amount of detail is not that easy to achieve with watercolors, but above all else, the way you manage to get the values so on point! I couldn't even tell this was watercolor.

I LOVE this! It doesn't look like a painting it looks like a photograph, until you get that super up close shot! Thank you. I came from F4F, where you and Chris are talking about maybe having a channel together to show beauty -- I would love to see something like that, and some of us watch you guys so much we would appreciate this! So glad you made this video. Subbed. Fantastic and beautiful scene you caught.

I'm just a beginner. Been painting in watercolour for about 6 months. Started a painting of raw and dried garlic from a tutorial book. First go at realistic still life. Did the raw one yesterday, turned out ok. Just discovered you yesterday evening in a video where you said you can layer up to 30x. Started the dried garlic today. Decided to go slow and build up the layers. The book builds them up in 3 or 4 layers. I'm doing quite a bit more. Wow. The difference is amazing. Could almost pick it up off the page. Thank you. 🙏🙏

I am glad to be of help! You can paint however you want to paint, whether that's in a few layers or in very many layers. Whatever you decide you like to do is the "right" way!

Incredible! Your “transparency” and honest insight into how and why you paint as you do..is so inspiring! Light, Dark, cool, warm…. (and tons of patience)…are the keys to your amazing work. I find when I paint intuitively, using these simple guidelines, I’m much more pleased with the outcome. Thanks SO much for offering your vids of inspiration an beauty!

Gosh! I wish I had learned to paint realism with water colours vs realism in oils. Storage is probably so much better too! would LOVE to paint this way, but it may be too late for me to learn this method. You do good work Stevenkozar!

That's just amazing. With a canvas size so small, would you say that the biggest 'requirements' for that to have been a success were, patience and assessment of color? It would help me to know how many hours this took you (an artist of your caliber) - is time even a consideration? I just laughed when I saw your finger/hand in frame ...thus giving an appreciation of how beautifully detailed your work is. Quite inspiring. (and thanks for the recommendation of Epson P800 and Aurora paper which you gave me).

My initial question after seeing some of your videos is how you manage to work so slowly and get such even washes without things drying out too much and getting runbacks, etc… And how can you work with so many layers without the integrity of the paper failing?

Bonjour Steven, I enjoyed the video, and I did a quick watercolor sketch of it. I would very much like paint the same street en plein air. I am a beginner, and it has become a hobby of mine to stand at the precise location masterpieces have been created and make a painting at that spot. I enjoy urban sketching and find that painting this way is the most fun. I was wondering where exactly the photo was taken. I know it's in Paris, but where in Paris? I've spent hours riding my bike looking for it. What street and what is the name of the shop? I can't make out the street sign in the photo. Same with the name of the shop. It doesn't show up in a google maps search.

Superb painting Steven. Just found you after watching and subscribing to Hit the Bar and Messed up church! I love watercolour and acrylic but man, not to that detail! As a signwriter from old I was always too detailed. Trying to be looser! Thank you!
