Just because one colour or perhaps some colours of your colour analysis palette are not your favs, does not mean your colouring is not in harmony with your colour analysis palette. In this video I share a look at a colour that is not one of my favs in my True Summer colour analysis palette on me.

I have discovered this for myself as well. I’m a True Autumn. Some Autumn colours are so fantastic on me. Others, even though in palette, not so good. For me, usually the paler ones aren’t as good, but it depends on the particular colour, temperature, chroma and depth. Plus, sometimes a Spring colour or dark colour this is slightly cooler than my palette look good because the darkness factor is so right even if the chroma or temperature is not precisely aligned with me. Experimenting with colours is fun! Also, very subtle changes on colour can make a huge difference. I bought 2 tops from Uniqlo with really similar colours but one looked a lot better. Uniqlo numbers their colours so I was able to see that the 2 tops were one colour shade different from each other. That made all the difference and will help for future purchases there. Definitely love the 2nd pink on you!

Absolutely agree. For me I’ve learned I prefer medium contrast tops in orange and green. Dark emerald greens or pale orange doesn’t suit me as much. I once wore a light grey shirt and looked like death warmed over😂. Never again 💀

I have watched a color analysis expert on KZbin who insists she was a spring in childhood, an autumn in youth, and now a summer in mature adulthood. She says she’s living proof we change seasons. She focuses on hair color, primarily, and a little on skin tone. I am a true summer (your client) whose hair is dark ash blonde, but my hairstylist says I have a lot of red in my hair. My hair was much lighter in childhood. In summer it could get to be almost tow head, but I know I am and always was a true summer. How does one convince someone the color season doesn’t change? My guess is, she wasn’t draped as a child or maybe even young adulthood, and she’s going on hair color…? My philosophy is “you do you,” but she has a platform and I wish she weren’t misleading people. Your topic today makes me think of her…

I recommend reading bios of people to understand where their content is coming from: eg have they attended accredited in-person colour analysis training (internet research, style training, colour theory training is not accredited colour analysis training) and have they had an in-person colour analysis practice? What colour analysis system do they use?… the answers to these questions will answer your comment imo … it could be they follow a system not based on human biology … any internet search asking question - does my skin undertone change will say no 💕⭐️🎨

They may be following, as Carol says, a different system. I’ve been draped in person twice in the UK by the Colour Me Beautiful franchise which does say your colouring changes ( they use tonal, not seasons). I’ve changed from deep, soft and warm ( more or less dark autumn) to cool, soft and deep ( I think closest to true summer ). I had dark hair, eyes and brows and now I’m grey. They take hair into account as it’s visible. It’s different but not necessarily wrong. I’ve experimented with cooler makeup and pinks I’ve never worn before and I’m happy with my new colours.

Yes, I too have seen a weekly video from a colour analyst (maybe a different one from you?) who says she was an autumn for most of her life and is now a summer with grey hair and lighter eyes. I don't actually like the summer clothes on her, as think her skintone is still warm! I have problems with the newer theory from Colour Me Beautiful, who say you can change seasons with age and so on, really? My husband, for instance has always been a summer, he has maybe cooled with age a bit, but is basically a summer. I was dark autumn and now can wear lighter shades of autumn, as hair has gone lighter brown (help from dye packet!) and eyes gone lighter olive. However, going to a cool season, still with warm undertones to the skin? Really? I am just not convinced by this theory.

Ooo ... I think I know who you're talking about 🤣 It gets me too as a Cool who has what looks like red in my hair. So now ... as a licensed esthetician and someone who practiced makeup artistry for years ... I know that it is true we lose melanin in our hair, skin, and eyes as we age. Knowing this, I think theoretically you could flow into your sister season as your coloring softens (ie Bright Spring to Light Spring, True Autumn to Soft Autumn, possibly even True Winter to True Summer). Your undertone does not change, but the perception of your coloring and the way your coloring interacts with other colors can change. I don't believe someone could go from True Autumn all the way to True Summer. Or even SA to TSu. AT MOST SA to SSu, IF you were already very close to SSu on your personal color spectrum. Also, I very much believe in the vibration of color harmonizing with your personal energy - that will not shift. So even if you are TW and you flow into TSu, you'd need to wear your boldest and coldest TSu tones to feel like your true self and be received as your authentic self.

I know who you are talking about and I have the same opinion. I also prefer lighter, more muted, slightly warmer colors on the aforementioned lady than she sometimes wears. In my opinion, not everyone will experience such a change and so significant. I personally see myself losing warm pigments with age, especially in my hair, although I still have a few grays, my dark chestnut hair with golden-copper highlights is turning into a more neutral color, and that's why I also choose softer colors from my palette and can also use some colors of muted autumn. The same with my husband, whose hair is almost white and his eyes have lost their radiance and turned a little gray. I switched from a contrasting winter to a cool one, and sometimes l'll also use some cool summer colors. He was originally a radiant winter with dark black hair and blue/yellow eyes. Now his eyes are grey blue.

I actually prefer the lighter pink on you. 😂(with a little lipstick though) I feel like the darker pink makes your skin tone look more yellow.

Carol, how is the cool muted palette different from the summer palette? (I would guess summer is brighter?) Do you have a video comparing them? They look the same to me. Thanks!
