Let's not forget Isaiah, who confessed himself of being a person with unclean lips. He turned out great.
@stegokittyАй бұрын
While I cannot claim to not have some bad verbiage come out of my mouth from time to time, Isaiah was not saying that he was a potty mouth. He, being a holy prophet of God, found himself in the direct presence of the holy, holy, holy God and was terrified by the sheer purity of God as compared to even a justified servant of God. Even if Isaiah was the purest, least sinful person on the planet, that wouldn't've changed his experience of feeling rottenness entering his bones, and feeling himself coming apart at the seams, as it were, and referring to himself as a man with unclean lips. Think of it this way too -- for us to complain about anything in our lives is in reality to call God's goodness into question. So to even complain because there's 6 feet of snow on the ground, and the roof of your house might collapse, as understandable as that concern might be, the attitude that typically goes along with it (and I'm as guilty as anyone on this) is sinful, even if not a single foul word comes out of our mouths.

@americanlostinvietnam3721Ай бұрын
@@Christ_Is_The_King777 I didn't disagree with stegokitty, and I never said anything about Isaiah except for what the scriptures already say, but I guess you didn't notice that. His breakdown being spot on is a matter of opinion since all ideas concerning the matter are speculation since no one here personally knew Isaiah. According to the Talmud, there are claims that have been made about Isaiah and his unclean lips, as well as multiple biblical scholars who have different conflicting viewpoints. Your idea of everything concerning Isaiah as "generally agreed upon" is strange. Isaiah whether being, or becoming one of the most Holy prophets is up for debate and there are different ideas. You said he was "the most holy prophet" and yet, he is not held above Elijah or Moses.

While i don’t think it is the most scripturally based thing I also don’t think it is necessarily a sin. However, I can see how (in the case of the catholic church) it can lead to being an idol. Luke 11:27-28 27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you." 28 He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

I wanted to encourage people to think about how faith isn't necessarily some private thing. This is "meaning of life" stuff. That kind of stuff isn't private, it is all encompassing and applies to the private and the public. Once we get ahold of the idea that our lives are nothing at all without Faith in Christ, it is freeing. I am no longer required to make up meaning for everything like I did when I was an atheist. I look to the one who provides that meaning. And it doesn't mean we have to be uptight prats. Everything we do is done with more abundance and freedom because it has real genuine meaning. Sex with our spouses is more fun. Playing with our kids is more fun. Hiking, camping, video games, debating, read, sports and so on, all of these are better with meaning in our lives.
