A 'vibe shift' is that feeling when you're at a small-ish party, having a good time, everyone's just hanging out and having good fellowship and all, and then your best friend's ex walks in. imagine there's a lot of tension between them. no one really knows what to do, so the rest of the party is kind of tense and awkward as everyone walks on eggshells to avoid arousing a fight of some kind. A 'vibe shift' is that change from "everyone's feeling good, it's a relaxed atmosphere" (a good "vibe") to "oh shoot what do we do, I don't know what to say gosh this is awkward." (a bad "vibe")
