Losing a husband through death is a lot better than finding out he is a psychopath and the entire marriage was a fraud and his agenda has long been trying to cause your death, doing "whatever it takes"
My son 31 passed away with ptsd from military served in Afghanistan. My 34 yr old daughter passed away 6yrs later anorexia and lupus and ileostomy. I took care of her while i also worked my oldest son didnt let me visir his daughter 20 years . My youngest son 35 is in drug rehab. I know ive made mistakes . I have broken heart . By myself . Alone . The only ones who cared have died. I try to keep the faith. Bless all those with broken hearts, Lord ...

If your child has cut you off, don't give up hope. I married a narcissistic sociopath who isolated me from my friends and family for 10 years. When I finally "woke up" and got away, I went right back to my family. I couldn't erase the pain those 10 years had caused, but I spent every weekend thereafter with my parents.

Thank you, Chonda. My husband died 4 years ago at the age of 64. We have a Christian daughter and had a prodigal daughter who cohabited with her partner. They have 2 children. Praise the Lord, He saved her soul about half a year ago. Now she and her partner have broken up and my daughter + kids + the German Shepherd have moved in with me. Life now is a mixture of suffering and joy. Listening to you helped me to see context and have faith in the faithfulness of our loving Father. His grace is sufficient for me. May the joy of the Lord fill the hearts of you and all your listeners.

When my Mother passed away 15 years ago, I remember riding in the car to the cemetery with my husband and son. Both men were quiet and sad. Just then I remembered the day my Mother and I were sitting and sewing together, listening to one of Chonda’s performances. We laughed until our sides hurt. I remember one of her funny lines, “ We”re dropping like flies”. I told my guys that to help lighten the moment and still feel the Lord had blessed me with the utmost peace that entire day. I knew where my Mom was and I would see her again. I am thankful to hear someone say laughter gets them through tough times. It certainly does for me. I had to leave my husband after 36 and 1/2 years he died on his own almost 3 years later aged 81. He was a narcissist. I spent all our marriage looking after he kept going into hospital yet when I got sick and had to go into hospital he didn’t like it. I felt I was flogging a dead horse. My kids were pleased when I left him and said I should have left him years ago yet I felt I had to stick to my marriage as I don’t believe in divorce. I didn’t divorce him when he died because I couldn’t afford it. Now I get his pension. I felt guilty at first. But God is good all the time despite the crippling pain I live with every day.

Since my mom died unexpectedly last year, I have struggled with finding my own identity. I lived with my mom. We were very close. I have a few disabilities that had brought me back home from serving as a missionary when I was 27. I’m turning 40 this weekend. Spending most of my time alone, it has been very hard. I helped my mom a lot and always felt like my purpose was to be there for her. I no longer a daughter. Not loved as much as I used to be.
