Hello Everyone, This is Ivete Lucas and Patrick Bresnan the directors of “The Passing,” the short film we made about our neighborhood veterinarian Dr. Michael Mullen. It’s a film that deals with his work as an end of life veterinarian and an incredibly courageous woman who allowed us to document his work with her dog Fiona. Having been through the difficult process ourselves of ending a beloved animal companions life, we felt that this film could help others going through that process. We’re here to answer any questions you may have in the coming days. Thank you so much for watching.

This was very compassionate of you. I have had many dogs I needed to help over the rainbow bridge, but surely this was touching. Everyone feels in their own way, but this lady was so kind it made me feel I knew her. I have had to let go of 35 dogs over my lifetime and it never gets easier, But a kind veterinarian is so very needed. I guess this is the price we pay for their being in our lives. By the way my American Bull dog, was Fiona Lisel, who had hemangiosarcoma. a particularly vicious disease. She was a rescue and the most stubborn girl I ever loved.

I would like to thank the veterinarian, and specially the woman for sharing this very personal moment of separation. It was very touching and emotional. My cat had to be put down many years ago, and I was standing on a busy street bawling my eyes out. I was no child.

When my cat died a beagle was there and kept crying and whimpering at me trying to help me. I will never forget that dog's compassion.

The final kindness is the greatest gift we can give for their countless gifts so freely given to us.

Thank you for taking care of these animals during their final days. And, to the woman who lost her precious dog, thank you for allowing me to mourn with you. So very painful, my heart aches with you. 🐾💝

What a wonderful, compassionate veterinarian. He's clearly dedicated to helping both animals and their owners and is perfectly content to do so in a comforting and non-intimidating manner.

The differences between the 'at-home' passing vs. 'at-clinic' one is the intimacy felt during the moment of crossing to the other side between the animals and their owners. I have experienced both and I wish there would be more vets who would provide 'at-home' passing.

Thank goodness for these vets who will come to your house to help our babies to transition. We had to help our 10 year old Dane who had cancer over the bridge. And the vet who came was amazing. I’m so grateful that we were able to say goodbye at home with our other dog there. It is the hardest gift we give them. A dignified death. More than we do for humans m

Such a gentle Veterinarian. The vets dog was morning the loss of this beloved friend as much as his person. Thank you for sharing this personal journey with us. Blessings to you all.

I’m enchanted by this place; the people, the pets, their homes & yards. When I had my 19 yr old put down the vet only administered one shot. Thankfully I had given her children’s Benadryl, which to my amazement, she lapped right up.

😓😭 the best thing we can do for our animal companions is to give them lots of love, plenty of treats and a good life, even when it's near the end.

For me, the idea of a beloved, dense body decomposing or being burnt is the thought hardest to bear. I think once I’ve figured that out things would be easier for me in the future

I recently lost my Norman. I had him from the day he was born until his death 17 yrs later. Burying him was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. 🖤🤍🐈⬛🤍🖤
