One thing I should have said in my summary is that if I didn't own powerheads and I was setting up a new tank today, I'm pretty sure I'd go for the Jecods. And the fact I already have 4x Vortechs is a big part of why they're a better fit for me 🙂

I have 2 MP40s and some Jebao/Jecod wave makers (with internal wires). All have been working great for the past 2 years. I have also just bought a Jebao DMP40 and am very happy with it. I live in Vietnam, close to China so the price I paid shipped to my house was only £90, 1/4 the price of the MP40. The interesting thing is that the wet part of the MP40 works well with the dry part of the DMP40.

Interesting to see, I’m shocked that they’re as close and I hope it’s a bit of a wake up call for these costly devices out there for big name brands! Great video as usual, Alex!

I'm not, I've been saying for years they're over rated & over priced. I bought one donkeys ago & I was not impressed at all for what it cost (plus it broke after a few years), never bothered with them since.
@TomoBishBosh2 ай бұрын
@@northeastcorals that's fair enough, im not speaking from experience, but more notoriety, you can't deny that these are one of the 'top' power heads in the hobby, they are always compared against or seen in a good light, yeah it has its negative points, but overall id say its highly regarded! I will admit, i stayed away because of the price, and instead went for reefwave 25!
@northeastcorals2 ай бұрын
@@TomoBishBosh As are their lights, which again are a good product but in my humble opinion are massively over priced for what they are. Obviously they should be free to charge whatever they want for their products, I'm just saying as far as I'm concerned they are not good value for the money. Again I also tried out their lights to see what all the hype was about (at the same time I tried their pumps) & to say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement to say the very least.

In Australia a single MP40 is $750 and a Radion XR30 is $1400.. I spent $3500 on a Giesseman Infinity back in the day to light my 7ft tank but that would cost me $5600 to use Radions to light the same area. How come every other electronic device has gotten WAY better and costs WAY less (TV’s for example) but us reefers are getting ripped off? Back when I used halides a 50inch Plasma TV was $15k but now I can buy a 64inch 8k HD for $1k. So how is a heat sink with some LEDs and a fan costing $1400???

Great review. Been enjoying the podcast you do with Prestige Reef 👍 just ordered two of the Jecod/Jeboa SOW 20 for under $350 AUS. If I ordered the equivalent from Tunze this would have cost me well over $1000. I want to support companies like Tunze and Ecotech but simply can’t afford their products, and my reef needs flow so Jeboa becomes my only option.
