I have the Red Sea s1000 G2 for two years now running 4 of the 160s lights. In the dry equipment area; I use the adaptive deluxe board on the back wall and Neptune board on the slide out. The boards help to hide the wires and power supplies. And more room would be great. Cheers.

S1000 G2… I used the original Red Sea return line. But used 1.0 inch furniture grade plumbing for the supply sides. Reason being, I used two Cor20 return pumps both with Apex 1.0 inch flowmeters. And one return side includes a pentair UV filter. My goal was to plumb with as little flow restriction as possible. And now, 2 years later, I wish I would have upgraded the return gate valve too.

Bring against the wall can you just remove that plastic paneling? That way it's very well vented

I recently acquired the S-700 and they moved the ATO sensor location to the back corner you mentioned. I can see it would be frustrating to have it on the front corner so glad they changed that!

What do you use to cover the tank to prevent jumping? I have a dd jumpguard but have a feeling where the light brackets are will leave a gap. Any way to alleviate that?
@ReefDork13 күн бұрын
I have the same. You can make cutaways in it with corner pieces or you can get a bespoke polycarbonate cover from top lids or LAD

@dR3ws3r14 күн бұрын
Just curious, how could you Euro-brace the back glass and not obstruct the internal overflow? Seems like if you only run partial pieces (up to the overflow), you wouldn't really be adding any structural support.
@ReefDork14 күн бұрын
You can have it so the brace goes around the weir box - check out the latest Waterbox LX tanks to see how they've done it...

Yeh I'd have to move that ATO sensor. Or would sticking a small mirror (possibly acrylic) to the rear of the of the sump allow you to see the sensor without getting fish crap in your lovely locks?😅

Great video 👍 Could the plastic back cover be removed and left detached for better airflow?
@ReefDork18 күн бұрын
Yeah, it probably could actually - or you could cut a large section out. You'd have to do it when you're setting up though for access reasons...

Why’ve you blacked about the kh keeper? To stop probe going mouldy? Dose it work, cheers
@ReefDork18 күн бұрын
No, it's because I've put a light for the frag tank at the top of the cabinet so I'll get light spill which would grow algae in the sample beaker

Hi , are you having any issues with the reefbeat app. My ato and reefmat lost connectivity on the 31st mid afternoon and has been down ever since. Redsea say their aware of the issue and trying ti fix it and say it's only affecting a small number of people which I find hard to believe as the app now doesn't allow the connection of new hardware so some people who bought nice shiny new equipment for Xmas maybe having issues connecting. My ato and reefmat are still less than twelve months old and if its not sorted soon I will looking to return and going for makes that are more reliable basically anything other that redsea.

Yep, me too. Mine works if I turn off WiFi on my phone so that's what I'm doing until Red Sea find a fix.

For a complete tank this costly the stand leaves a lot to be desired. Red Sea needs to do a lot better in that department. Full revamp.

Nice update Alex. Would you pay for this tank? Very useful as I might consider the 500 or 700 and not many videos on this series of tanks, other than yours
@ReefDork17 күн бұрын
I would, yeah. The Waterbox Infinia 6 foot and the D-D 1800 would be on the shortlist too - they're not quite as nice but they're still very nice indeed and a lot cheaper than the Red Sea.

Great video Alex, with the things you mentioned you don't like with the red sea aquarium would it stop parting with your own money and buying one? Would consider going the custom made route?
@ReefDork18 күн бұрын
No, they're just minor irritations really - things I'd like Red Sea to work on for the next gen. I would consider custom but I really like the off the shelf tanks so I'd probably always go for RS, Waterbox, D-D etc. Not sure I can be bothered with the hassle of custom.

It’s such a nice tank but the plastic wall backing and lack of space for a uv sterilizer is a deal breaker for me The wood cabs give you so much flexibility for mounting stuff One of the huge wins with the split sump is being able to have your fuge light never bleeding into your sump, though
@tomboren704817 күн бұрын
I just mounted a 25w UV on the inside of my S-700 cabinet. It’s situated so I can remove the bulb without removing the housing and it doesn’t get in the way of any equipment.

Tragic situation for everyone Customers dealing with leaking tanks - one of the most difficult problems to deal with in any hobby And from Red Seas POV, it’s a design flaw that has severely damaged their reputation The silver lining for the hobby is that EVERY tank manufacturer has learned a lesson from what’s happened with Red Sea
