This is why I always do the DLC and level-grind prior to the main quest. I get to use all the fancy toys in the DLC levels to crush the main game like it's nothing. My Courier killed Legate Lanius in a swordfight while wearing nothing but her undies.

There was this really good GDC talk about Choice Design in New Vegas by Josh Sawyer. In the talk he talked about how in New Vegas he intentionally allowed you to kill anyone you wanted, saying that he explained to the designers that the player "had a Thanatos kill field around you and that players just can't help it, everyone just drops dead around them." After watching your video, yeah that was 100% true lol.

When I played New Vegas the first time I didn’t do many side quests and didn’t have a campion or explore very much. So During the final fight I died many times. My second play through I maxed my characters level, learned to wear power armor, got some powerful named weapons, and bought a shit ton of AP ammo, then when the final fight came I breezed through it without dying once.

funny thing was on my first (and only) ever playthrough i finished the village story then saw the lights of new vegas and went towards it. when i hit deathclaw valley i went around the cliffs on the right and bypassed them. years after my playthrough i realized i had to go south if i wanted to follow the story .

Yeh that's what happened to me. Unlike the real way you were meant to go that was down and around I went up on the map. It took me awhile to figure that out so when I came back and went to the town that the legion burned down it confused me because their dialogue treated me like I had never met them when infact I did when I was working under the NCR

It's super funny to me how easy the game gets initially after getting loaded down with all those weapons from the DLC. You truly start with a freaking arsenal and that permanent health replenishing canteen. I was practically unstoppable after level 15. Starting on the easiest mode puts it somewhere in mobile gaming easy.
