Crazy thing is that I lost sight of why I gamble. It started out something I did when bored but turned into a crazy addiction. I want control of my life again I know this ain't me. I feel hurt inside thinking about how much money I spent and gambled away. I want to beat this I have to beat this. I WANT MY LIFE BACK!!!!!

The best advice I can ever give you if your suffering from a gambling problem is think about your kids or your future kids. Think about there future and what just the 100 dollars you spend gambling could help them achieve. That's School uniform, pencil case, etc. Think about the ones you care about, them suffering and them asking you for help, every spin you spin could effect your chance of helping someone so close to you. On may 5th, I woke up at 5 am. I had been dreaming of the number 5 all night. I had the 5 dollar special at the diner for breakfast, I filled my car up with gas, it only needed 5 dollars. I said I have to go to the race track, it was 5 miles away. I got there at 5pm, just in time for the 5th race. I bet 5 thousand on the #5 horse. Sure enough, she came in 5th.

The even worse part is that you will spend $75k and still not win. One and a half years ago I started spending my “gambling” money on silver. It became another thing for me to distract myself to some extent, but for each piece I purchase the stack gets larger. So it isnt really “spending” money as much as it is exchanging a dollar for silver. It has definitely helped me to keep my hard work with me, instead of giving it away.

You need to keep his mind off it buy making him happy you will because his addiction . Post your bills on the fridge so he know he has bills to pay and try to tell him to pay them first before he leaves . Just don't leave him he needs help you leave he is done for he will lose everything . The reason I gamble is because I'm lonely and I don't connect with people in the pub. I think in my head if I win I'll have friends and people will give me attention. Also I work hard every week and half of my money goes to rent, somehow I think I can double it and it will be enough but even if I do double it, it is never enough. The emptyness I feel is very depressing. I'm at the stage in my addiction where people who are close to me are just starting to realise that I'm a failure

I’m trying to stop my gambling addiction. I just seek sooooo much thrill in the fact it’s either you win or I win. It can be as simple as Rock Paper Scissors to poker, blackjack, craps etc. You loose a $5000 and gain $7000. All of this started because my father was a high roller and he told me “you gotta spend money to make money in this world” and that’s where my addiction started. From someone that had the same issue. Just stop. You're losing a lot more than you win, so logically trying to make it back that same way isn't the answer. Invest your time you would spend on gambling into something more valuable for promotions, bonuses, or something along those lines by perfecting a skill or study into something that would be a requirement of a position you want that pays more.

I know in my country theres a gambling helpline, as well as gamblers anonymous groups....seek out help from people who understand what ure going through. Self - discipline alone is not enough. You have to re learn healthy habits; manage triggers; build up your self esteem etc etc . Do it. Its never too late. Good luck!

My older brother just blew $24,000 in a casino. I cannot believe that his alcoholism and gambling addiction had reached this point. I had no idea it was this bad. Do you know what I could do with that kind of money. I hurt inside because money is meaningless to him. You should treat money as a gift. I’m 31 gambled since I was 16 but for the last 3 years my gambling spiralled out of control probably lost about a quarter of a million. I got laid off my job 3 years ago because I started having health issues like fatigue and brain fog not related to gambling. In the last 3 years due to these health problems I gamble 24/7 because I’m too ill to socialise or work and it’s screwed me up. Last week though I know this may sound stupid but I went to the health store and bought some supplements recommended by my nutritionist and all of a sudden I stopped gambling, smoking and drinking for some odd reason but I’m 100 percent sure it’s related to the supplements.I really believe now there’s some neurotransmitters like dopamine that are low in some people’s brains causing us to have these artificial high like smoking and gambling. Even though I can now stop gambling I still have large debts to pay but I’m happy I can resist the gambling.

I am 35 and have been gambling since 18. I just sat down and done the math on what I've spent over the years and what it has done. Total at minimum 300k but it's probably more. I owe irs because the only way to make child support payments was to file exempt. I literally have been spending my full paychecks when I get paid gambling . I hit a jackpot just last night and it was confiscated. My house is about to go into foreclosure. I've been asking for help since I was young but everyone says I can't afford it because my bills. Was thinking suicide earlier. I have an opiate addiction which I take Subutex for but hate it and can not get off that now. I went to hospital last nite for help they told me to leave. Going to loose everything for the 3rd time in my life. If I could not gamble or do opiates if be extremely wealthy but for some reason it takes over me like I'm not even there. I find I gamble more when deppressed or am unable to pay bills. I have worked 2 full time jobs and lived in my car and then spent all if it gambling it's insane. I feal like there is no hope for me to find help.

Give the player a chance to see the reality of their ways and have a casino chaperone available. A person accompanying with a card displayed visible around their neck that shows they are not to play but can be the holder of casino chips and cash. The player plays normally and the chaperone says when they are to stay or leave. The casino makes sure the chaperone only doesn't play. If the chaperone needs assistance from the security, then the security and management of the casino will back up the chaperones advice before applying any lawful measures.

I'm watching this as my close friend is slowly but surely gambling his life away on slots. I expressed to him how I am here for him and try to explain the mathematics of the machines and how the odds are 100% firmly against him but he says that he doesn't want to know as he just enjoys the thrill off walking into a bookmakers and gambling on slots, its horrific as a friend to look on at someone destryoing themselves (he spent £12.000 in the last 2 weeks) gambling to extinction is a real thing.

the majority of the population use gambling as a form of entertainment with no problem. It's the few that are vulnerable to addictions that causes problem. Gambling addiction is just the symptom and not the underlying cause either. If not gambling, these people would take up other forms of addiction in porn, binge eating, drugs, and etc. Gambling and other additions fill in the void for these people, for what is missing in their lives. The underlying causes are isolation, depression, lack of purpose, and etc. And if you can solve that, you would probably be able to solve 80% of the problems in modern society.

One good thing I learned about problem gambling, a person can really survive on basically nothing for at least a week. It teaches economic turmoil survival skills, like there were times years ago, where I was left with only 20 dollars to last over a week, and I made it work! It was horrible existence but I did survive over 5 days with only 20 bucks.

I literally just left the casino was gonna gamble tops 200 I did 300, it isnt so bad but I did 100 on roulette on the outside and lost. Then went to the sports book 50 on the giants to beat the lions tomorrow which is a long shot I took the money line. I should of left there but hit the black jack table and lost 160 there so I threw away 310 in under 30 mins if the giants win that's 172 I get back which means I'm only down 130. Will be last time gambling for 1 year or forever cause I'm filling a void but isnt filling a void why we do everything?

Spent about 3/4 of my income going from 2014-2017.... in other words.... once I paid bills, i was off gambling ... I've won 10,000 (I usually walk in with 200) in on night before and I've lost it all the next couple days..... If you don't have a gambling bug you can't fathom or speak to a gambler going through it. express your concern offer assistance with finances or to help create barriers but fighting the demon takes will power

I know the feeling i usualy walk at a 2/300 win won 1000/5000 befor bigest wins started doing 500 every 2 months 40/60/80 this is my "affordable gambling" but what if this was saved in a bank and not touched i dont have to spend this. a time and bingo costing 40 each time , you dont always win and when you win big it feels like a loan cuz you end up givining it back to the casino or the bookies or the bingo hall or online. Its worse when the advertise it on tv its just constant reminder. Im trying to get though my 21 day cycle at the mo its about finding other heathy hobbys and geting rid of the bad influnces in my life that want me to socialise with them in those places. If there realy my friends and not using me for money they can meet me for a coffee instead.the best thing i can do for my husband is to transfer him my money each month and let him give me little bits at a time i dont feel i can trust my self any more

I know where this guy is coming from. I know that void he talks about. the one you try to fill with clothes and games and food and internet likes and tattoos and expensive things. They coat the rims of the void but they never fill it. Never. So you look for one vice after another to fill it because the make the void smaller, temporarily, and you have hope it'll close, but it never does. And so you look in the mirror and see your reflection and all the crap you've wasted your money on over the years, and that "what if?" and you just.... cry.
