Monty is my highlight on Friday nights too, even though I have to watch him at 2am because of the time difference. I am able to purchase a VPN which allows me to enjoy every episode. What a sweet young lady you are. It is very pleasing to watch you. Thank you !

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada growing zone 2b/3. Spring is very short, the snow has usually melted by mid April, but the daytime temperatures are still quite cool not higher than 14C with cold winds and night temps are usually in the low single digits. Spring bulbs are crocuses, tulips and muscari, buttercups. Last frost date is typically 3rd week of May! But after that it gets warm quickly and we have lovely summers. First frost can be end of August, but usually not until mid Sept. Winter temps can be very cold, as low as -40C but there is a good snow cover so most perennials, trees, shrubs, bulbs etc survive. Every gardener faces different challenges, and I embrace every challenge Mother Nature throws at me. Gardens are constantly evolving and changing and that’s what makes it so interesting. Love your vlogs! It’s so interesting to see gardens from other parts of the world. Thank you for sharing yours ❣️

I live in South Australia and plant my bulbs in Autumn, which flower in Spring. I can grow most plants that grow in Europe, as we have a Mediterranean climate, as well as all the Australian native plants. Best of both worlds. It snows in the Australian Alps. In fact, our snowfields are larger than those in Switzerland. Many Australians love skiing and the snowfields in New South Wales and Victoria are very popular in winter. I love watching your vlogs and seen how you’ve transformed your home.

Here in Northeast Ohio we get Spring bulbs and plant them usually in early May. I live in Zone 5. We also will plant some bulbs in the Fall/Autumn for the following Spring. Like Daffodils and Crocuses. Next Monty Don & Gardeners World. I use to watch episodes on KZbin or Britbox. There’s only 3 seasons on there right now. I don’t know if the episodes you’re watching on Friday is the same as what I see. Isn’t he wonderful! Like the episode I’m watching is about a Staffordshire theme park. I live in zone 9 in Washington state. We've started to get a bit warmer temperatures (today is 54degrees) we'll be nice again tomorrow (Monday) but then we're back to showers and cooler temperatures. Since you've inspired me to get outside and get some gardening going, yesterday I planted 40 Dutch Iris bulbs and 6 phlox bulbs! I still have 18 Ranunculus bulbs to set out, but that will have to wait for a little while. I have tulips and daffodils sprouted, but no flowers just yet. I haven't planted any crocus bulbs, yet I have a volunteer army of them in one flower bed and another group starting across the yard! Such a pretty sight! I admire your get up and go and your joy of your garden...it's certainly contagious! Have a lovely week!

We generally have snow from November through March and sometimes even into April. I love Gardener's World and can watch it on BritBox or even KZbin. Daffodils and most other bulbs bloom between April and May. Tempatures goes between +5 to - 10c. Snow will melt fast when it's the time. Dahlias aren't hardy in here, need to store in cool place over wintertime. I would like to do all those things that you do, but have to wait a bit and cut down some huge birch trees. Our garden is old but we have living here 1,5 years. You have such a sweet vlog. ❤️

We had a beautiful Winter with lots of snow and not too much Ice.. The skiers were very happy. This week it is Spring Break in Montreal and lots of people are at the ski hill up north. I’m patiently waiting to get in the garden it won’t be long now!🌷

Our place is in the high country area and I have flowers on my pumpkin plants at the moment and my other family members who live 2 hours away have already had their pumpkins grow and have given us some to eat. In the respect to your question on bulbs, I have often seen them flower in Melbourne in the later winter months (July, August) and for us we get the same bulbs in November (approximately). Bulbs are fantastic for putting up with harsh conditions. My love to you for your pure gentle amazingness ❤👵🏻

Hi Catherine, Thank you for another beautiful that made me smile. I live in Ontario Canada, about an hour and a half north of Toronto. I’m zone 5B and yes we still have a few feet of snow! About 5cm more just yesterday! I’m so sick of it! It takes forever to leave! I do still plant bulbs but I do it in the fall (October/November) because it’s too hard to work the ground in the spring. Our rule of thumb is to not plant any annuals until the May 24 long weekend. It’s not until then that the risk of frost is truly gone. It’s a long painful wait!!! Our growing season usually lasts into October, but the last few years I’ve had a few thing until November. Typically it snows or freezes rain for Halloween. Our season is so short☹️. I’ve got my eye on a small Hartely greenhouse…it’s on my bucket list! Anyway, thanks again for the video, I wish we could “hang” and have a cup of tea together!

Love that you are “genuine” and just let your true personality shine! I live in Southern California, zone 10b. In the few winter months (December-March, never any snow) that we have, we don’t get much lower than the mid 40’s (Fahrenheit) at night - usually in the 50’s and during the days we are usually in the 70’s but can have days in the 80’s. Yes we can grow bulbs here and are very lucky to leave certain ones in the ground year round because of our mild weather - some that I have are gladiolus, amaryllis, bluebells, and Easter lilies. Our weather is so mild that some of these will start popping up in January! However, I know there are certain types of bulbs that need to go through a very cold period of 6-12 weeks to be able to bloom properly and can’t do that in the ground in our warm climate. Fortunately we can put them in the refrigerator for a few weeks to simulate the process. That’s why it’s always good to check the growing zone of bulbs to see how they perform in your area. I’m in my 60’s and still enjoy learning about gardening and am thrilled that my daughter has grown to love the same! 👏🏼🌺🌼🌸🥰

I live in Texas and I've not had much luck with spring bulbs. It doesn't get cold enough and it appears that I'm not organized enought to pop them in the fridge to chill them... I buy pre-potted bulbs but haven't yet managed to "over-summer" them. It's easiest to buy the cut flowers for the brief time they appear in the store. I live in Iowa, zone 5. Yes! We get spring bulbs. Depending on the variety, we usually see them emerging in April and flowering later in April and into May. Our last frost date this year is April 30. It’s currently quite chilly still. We had a few “false spring” days with highs in the upper 60s. The robins are back, which everyone in this area thinks means spring has arrived. And yes….I watch Gardeners World a lot, however they are older episodes on a streaming service. We love Monte, even though our habitat is not quite the same, we learn so much!!

Hello, I always enjoy your videos so much! In the middle west of the USA, I’m in zone 4. The closer to Canada you are in the US, the colder it can get. It depends upon the year. Sometimes - it’s very cold later and sometimes it’s very warm earlier. We often get our daffodils, tulips, etc. and it will snow, but the Spring flowers are fine and if it’s a warm March or April, the snow will melt away and the Spring bulbs are fine. I think it’s the way they’re constructed; when you see inside their stems, they are so sturdy and have that pulpy stuff in them, which must act as an insulation, if it snows. It seems that we only need a sunny day or two and the new shoots grow several inches. (We are still waiting this year, but the Spring birds are back!) Our official start date for planting is the last weekend or week in May, but if it’s been very warm, people start earlier. It’s possible to get a snow storm in April or May, but it will usually melt away pretty quickly. We have to dig down 4 feet to avoid a hard frost, for putting in fence posts in concrete, for example. That’s just the way it is in our climate. It’s really funny to see you cutting your grass in January or March. It’s also amazing to see anything growing in Winter! Our grass is flat and dormant until Spring starts. Our trees are bare. Nothing is growing. Some years, we have a very cold Spring and sometimes a very warm Spring. It’s the same with Autumn, or Fall. We have beautiful colour from all the different trees and shrubs. Some Falls are very warm, some are very cold. We can plant until maybe August, so the plant can establish roots, but can plant Spring bulbs in September. I’ve noticed that we don’t get any snow to speak of until January. It did used to snow earlier, but it does depend upon the year. Some Winters are pretty cold, some are milder. But we can get extremely hot/humid Summers. I’ve been enjoying seeing you work in and improve your garden and home. I love Monty Don too. I first heard about him via KZbin. Good gardening!🌸

Honey you can cut the eyes apart and let them dry a few days now and plant them.also with all the potatoes you have on your window seal and if you plant them all you will be able to feed a small army. I’ve grown potatoes for 50 years and a lot of potatoes can be cut into at least 2 pieces and sometimes a lot more as long as there’s 1 grow eye (were the roots are forming) they should grow like weeds. Good luck I’m loving your garden updates.

I live in Illinois in the Southern portion and it is zone 6. I have tulips and other bulbs that start coming up about April most years, but sometimes March. We have a pretty long summer here, some years more than others. I had flowers growing this past year until November. My daughter lives 500 miles to the north in Wisconsin which is further north than parts of Canada, in zone 2. She definitely has a much shorter growing season, she had snow in September already and probably will until May. Your yard is so quaint and lovely. I am working on mine but the people I bought my house from were in their 90's and it was overgrown. But that gives me surprises, I chopped down a ton of vines and ivy and discovered 12 rose bushes.

I'm in zone 6/7. New Jersey shore area. Can't plant until frost is over (April/May.) Crocus will come up and then daffodils first, even in cold spring weather. We get tulips and narcissus in April/May. Love your gardening vlogs. When I'm out mucking around I feel like a young girl again. Thanks, Dainty. I've never heard of Gardener's World. I watch Garden Answer on youtube.

I have not watched Gardeners' World for years. I used to watch it years ago when it was Geoff Hamilton presenting it. At that time I had a large garden and grew some veg, my own summer bedding plants from seed, made my own hanging baskets and had lots of spring bulbs. Sadly I now have a small back garden and it's needed for seating, cooking and for 3 grandchildren to play and have a 8ft pool for a couple of months in the summer. We are in the process of replacing all the decks and putting some new grass down. Your videos are making me want to find space for some containers to have some flowers and maybe grow a bit of salad or at least some herbs.

Hi there from New Zealand. We do get spring bulbs here. They always fill me with joy as they mean the warmer days are on they way. We still have beautiful days here 20 to 25 days but cooler nights. Lovely to see your beautiful garden I am sure you will enjoy many a can in it in the summer.

Hi from Sydney, Australia 🤗 Britbox here does not have Monty’s Gardener’s World, so have to rely on KZbin. Love the surprise of bulbs popping up in spring - freesia, jonquils, daffodils. Usually my winter is not quite cold enough for tulips and I am not prepared to dig bulbs up and chill them in the refrigerator. Australia is a big country (about the same as continental USA).

Here in lower half of Minnesota we are Zone 4. We can even have snow in April. Gardeners do plant bulbs but they don’t come up until they like the weather - late April or May. Planting spring flowers will happen with warmer weather and no chance of frost… maybe late May. We usually never planted until late in May or early June. Just need the warmer weather. We have a shorter growing season, but occasionally really warm way into September. Just hard to count on the northern states for a sure thing. Enjoyed the video!

Hi there! I'm new here and love your channel. I live in Detroit, USA (zone 6b), about a mile from the Canadian border. We are still getting some snow, although not much accumulation anymore. We do spring bulbs, but plant them in the fall. Just need to get them in the ground before the ground freezes, usually in late October/November. The daffodils, crocus, etc. come up in late March-early April, depending on the weather (no sign of them yet this year). The tulips come after those. The general rule of thumb for planting annuals, etc. here is that they can't go in the ground until Mother's Day, which is the second week of May. Then we start getting freezes again in late October, so that's pretty much the end of the season. Sadly, it's short! Often we don't see the grass at all between Christmas and late February, as it mostly stays covered with snow. I can watch Monty Don on KZbin, but I think they might be old episodes. Happy to get them at all, though!

I put my potatoes in an ice cream bucket of coffee grounds in my kitchen and they sprout really well. We've planted them before though without sprouts coming yet and they grow nicely if you plant them early. I'm very envious of how nice and big your garden is! I'm in Michigan in the U.S. and our crocuses, tulips and daffodils come up in April usually and the trees (apples, plums, etc, lilacs) will blossom in May. It still can snow til mid May sometimes so we don't plant our vegetable gardens til the end of May, but potatoes and peas in April. We have a farm and plant our corn in April and May. Fall is from September til mid November when it will start to snow.

Evening! I'm in southern New England and while we may have some nice days in March, we still regularly get hit with snow or ice storms through the end of March. We get all the same bulbs as you, we just get them a bit later--lots of bulbs blooming in April for Easter and all the way to May, when the lilacs begin blooming! Also, I get Gardner's World through Britbox, which is a streaming service we can get here to watch UK television...and yes, we do get the same episode that was aired in the UK and Ireland, though sometimes it isn't available to stream until the following morning. Enjoy your garden!

Yes, no autumn for us, but two summers! 😅 Our winters average around 10°C to low 20s in the capital; bit cooler in the south (does occasionally snow in one or two places though, but not the norm). We have some lovely flower shows in the spring showcasing bulbs. 🌷

Hi hon! Ottawa, Canada , zone 5…still much snow here although we had a good melt today. We have great spring bulbs but they won’t pop up for a bit. Still too much snow. We’ll see them in April. The long weekend in May is when we do the bulk of our planting, annuals, vegetables, etc. Our season is shorter than yours. Most of my veg garden is harvested by September , parsnips, carrots, pumpkins last a little longer. In October we pull out out tubers (like Dahlias) for storage, plant spring bulbs and do a clean up. Snow flurries come and go starting in October. We don’t normally get snow that stays until December but it can be earlier. The earliest I can remember was Oct 14 one year. As you can imagine, we love spring!! Love Monty Don! I don’t watch TV but I have watched him on Netflix and You Tube and follow him on Insta. Thanks for the early spring inspo. You do a lovely job on the channel. I enjoy watching you very much. Cheeky thumbs up from Canada!

I am in California, Zone 9b. Even if I chill bulbs it is so warm here that they sprout too soon and usually only get the leaves and few if any flowers. We get an occassional frost but the ground never freezes. I have subscriptions to RTÉ, Britbox, and Acorn TV. Have to have my telly fixes. I can watch Monty Don on Britbox. I am loving watching your bulbs coming up and hearing your birds. Xxx
