My dad has carried a Swiss Army knife as long as I can remember. (He's in his 70s) That and his Leatherman Multi-tool. My dad was a Scout leader and when one of his scouts would start the process of reaching Eagle scout, he'd gift him a Swiss Army Knife. I love the sentimental stories so many people have about these knives. I hope it continues for generations more.

Sweet story about your grandpa !!! My husband is a carpenter and is never without his knife. At Christmas time when we open our gifts my husband would pass around his knife to make it easier. So several years ago, my son gave everyone a pocket knife for Christmas 🎄

as a german who married a swiss i can confirm that swiss army knives are absolutely 100% necessary and always, at all times, all year round, in positively whatever situation handy to have at hand. my husband has one in the pocket of his jeans when he leaves, in every backpack, in every jacket-pocket, he DOES. NOT. LEAVE. THE. FREAKING. HOUSE. WITHOUT! lol. swiss pocket knives.

The tribute to your Grandfather was so moving. My Dad always had a Swiss Army knife as well. It was passed on to another family member when he died but this video inspired me to get one of my own. They really are extremely handy but just to have one as a perpetual tribute to my father that I can pass down to my daughter would be wonderful I think. Love the shelf and the wicker shades. DIY Danie: make something with your home that makes you happy Me running to Ikea to buy a giant bookshelf and asked my roommate to pick me up and help me install it. Did we have to drive for one hour back home, find a parking spot and carry the bookshelf pieces 5 stories up because they wouldn't fit into our tiny elevator? Yes. Did all my books fit in the bookshelf? No, we need three more. Am I happy? Hell yeah! Also, that was yesterday, so this video hit home right about now

I love the tribute to your grandfather and grandmother. My grandfather was my closest friend. I adored him. We came from a big Italian family. I have a black and white picture of my grandfather in my kitchen, holding up a huge fish that he caught. I am now 72 and I still remember that picture It brings back fond memories to me. I have a very similar connection with swiss knife for my grandpa and I still have the one he bought for me over 10 years ago. Now that he is passed away, I think of him every time I go camping or I use the swiss knife :) He was an amazing builder and DIY! Thank you for making me think about him today. I’m Swiss and received my Swiss Army knife when I joined the girl scouts at 11. I still have and use it; 40 years later. I’m now the godmother of twin boys who are English and just last Christmas I gave them each a huntsman with their names engraved. It seems like such an important and meaningful gift - a rite of passage, if you will.

The lasso-lamp is sensationell !!! Exept for putting plants on books (that's silly, remember water is the biggest enemy for books) the shelf looks much better now. The brass-bird-curtain-holder looks rather like a crane than a swan. VICTORINOX-Army-Knives are great !!! Since I started to work as a flight-attendant 40 years ago, I never left home without my basic knife in the luggage...it's still sharp and served me well. 🙂

I just love the theme and tribute you did to your grandfather! ❤ My dad is totally the same, never anywhere without it. He's had to post it to himself at more than one occasion, because he forgot to put it in his check-in-luggage when we went to the airport 🤦‍♀️ He also had to go back to the hotel with it once we went to Disneyland 🤷‍♀️ So that should definitively come as a warning! Both my grandpa's, and my dad carried pocket knives. My paternal grandpa also used his to elegantly slice fresh-picked apples from his garden. He would pass the apple slices right to his mouth from the knife. (He was actually fastidious, but, life was different then..) One of my earliest memories.

My father passed away last month.. I’ve been heartbroken. My brother and I went through his things and we each kept his 2 pocket knives he’s had our whole lives. Danie the shelf is absolutely gorgeous. It doesn’t take up the space visually that a large piece of furniture would but it does make that whole wall one huge airy cohesive vignette. And one you will enjoy changing and decorating for every season. You’ll never be bore with it and it doesn’t close the room in. It’s the perfect addition to your living room. Everything was so cool, but I think the biggest impact is extending the shelf above the TV. Somehow that area now looks "complete". Great work all around!

Wow, what a smiler vlog this turned out to be. The awe project goes to Kenobi's window watching. Really cute hardware. The unexpected project was the wall sconce made out of the art hand and rope light. What an ode to Wonder Women. And your shelf is the pièce de résistance. It finished the room. Ok the rope light in the hand was so bomb! I didn’t know that existed! I think the shelf and the lamp shades really set off that space. You may have to add 1 bracket in the middle of that long shelf or maybe two that match the spacing of the other 4 to keep the board from sagging.
