When he learned of the threat that rising sea levels posed to his coastal hometown of Miami, Florida, eco-artist Xavier Cortada founded a movement around beautifully designed elevation markers highlighting the risk of flood damage. The collaborative art project quickly mobilized action -- and excited some controversy. Watch as Cortada offers a creative vision of community organizing inspired by art that engages, educates and empowers.

People's ignorance of climate change is on full display in the TED comment sections. Whataboutisms, people blatantly misunderstanding the speakers, gaslighting. Listening shouldn't be that difficult.

How’d they all get there? Gas cars. How’s the building heated and cooled? Electricity and or gas. They could have done the whole thing by Zoom - but that wouldn’t make them 💴

With so much discussion around climate change over the past 150 years, I feel it’s helpful that we consider how glaciers didn’t exist on the planet until 60 million years ago or so, and that we’ve been in a bit of an ice age since. These coastal areas would likely return to the sea even if humans weren’t present on the earth. Do we have an impact? Sure, but the earth has temperature changes too, let’s not think so big of ourselves to think we’re responsible for everything.

Yeah, 60 milion years of ice age... Being undone in 100? 200? years, does that seem natural?
