Certafied dealers need to carry a LOT of special tools to pass mandetes by the VAG. Even more so if you want to be able to service W12`s and other rare cars. I was an apprentice between 2012/2016 and we ( VW/Audi/Skoda dealer) had close to a 1000 tools and we still weren`t allowed to service the W12 or R8`s . The stuff they use to torque the Heads is some AMG one man one Engine typ stuff, no dealer i ever visited ( even the big ones ) here in germany have stuff like that... then again, no dealer in germany will rebuild your engine like that, nor would you get away with 10k for a W12.

Amazing job. As always it's down to maintenance how long a car will last. As a former mechanic myself I totally tip my hat to the work which was performed by the team on that engine. But doing this at only 110.000 km makes me wonder why it broke down so early. Usually those kind of overhauling is only done to older engines or at least some with higher mileage. But if the car was neglected before you for sure have to do such a big service. So keep an eye on the regular maintenance and your engine will last much longer. But again. Absolute great work and beautiful workshop.

why a general overhaul after such a short mileage did the engine have any problem with the oil consumption or compression loss or did it drip a lot of oil as normally the w12 engines only cause problems when they have done over 250,000 km and not at 150,000 km hp I once had an A8 w12 D2 so I know a lot of the engine's weak points
@Divine_Serpent_Geh2 ай бұрын
The na 6.0 W12 is very reliable. Seeing all this work done was crazy impressive, but unnecessary. Biggest failure points are a coolant temp sensor which I think might be an engine out job, O2 sensors (there are 4 or 8 I think), alternator location. But mechanically the engine is pretty much bulletproof. Something tells me this car never saw any maintenance at all and was treated very poorly to need this kind of work with such little mileage.

I loved my A8. Only had a 4.2 (2011). I wasn't having problems with burned pistons thank God! But a lot of stuff i had to do myself because the dealer wasnt close to the people on the video. Finally found an independent shop that could get the job done. After having them fix a few things (and still waiting for their scanner to be repaired) someone rear ended me. I took the $17000 check. Still might get another one someday but it won't be my daily driver.

Awesome rebuild job. I'll have to go check the channel to see if I missed something. There no way they rebuilt an engine that thoroughly and not the transmission? while it was out? I assume new brakes,O2 sensors, catalytic converters, torque converter ,ect. But that is outside of the 10K rebuild price I'm sure. Anyway love these cars, the engine/drive trains are technical marvels but damn it makes electric motors more appealing for its relative simplicity

Amazing work 💯. Q1) Did you have to reprogram the ECU, ECM or other modules? Q2) Does it perform as good as new from factory in terms of: Performance - Torque and power curves? Fuel and other fluid consumption? Engine, transmission vibrations and over-all smoothness of the drivetrain? Cheers!
