Hi , it seems tiny hotel rooms are the norm these days. We stayed at the Mitford Plaza in New York some years ago, definitely a case of " all fur and no knickers" the foyer was all marble and chandeliers but upstairs was a different story, just enough room to navigate the foot of the bed,next to a lift shaft, no double glazing to shut out the constant din from yellow cab horns all meant not much in the way of kip, enjoying the vids, looking forward to the latest Reliant Trotter saga.

Excellent and funny vid as usual Martin lol keep wearing fords down and I'm sure they'll give in. As to taking off the alternator you'll need to buy or make a tool to slacken the aux belt. When the engine is running have a look to see if the crankshaft wheel is wobbling if it is it might be worth changing the belt. Aux tensioner and pulleys. Easier to do whilst you have to take the alternator off anyway. There are no vids anywhere of someone changing the aux kit so if you decide to do it you'll be the first lol if you look on talkford forums under mk3 mondeo they have pics of what's involved in changing the alternator etc plus a nice wiki guide on the mk3. Disgraceful attitude from Ford UK - keep going Martin! There is a wonderful lounge in the St Pancras hotel next door to Kings X - pricey, but worth a look. Tell you what Martin, if ever you want to sell that Mondeo -I'll have it off you - it'll be like a new car!

Great vlog! I use to work in an auto electrics garage a few years back and we always use to refurb starter motors and alternators instead of replacing them is that not an option? the brushes inside probably just need replacing

I work for dominos which is also franchise it is a bit naughty of ford UK to pass the buck because they are franchise to usually company step in and tell us sort our problems out we find it easier just to sort it out in house so to speak as it gives a stronger customer bond which people remember stick it out Martin don't let them beat you

The mondeo is a money pit. Should have binned it off when the clutch called it a draw. You must be getting close in parts costs alone in the last 6 months to what the car is worth. That's before you factor in your time not to mention wasted time on bolts etc! Anyway that's my 2p. Keep at it

It will be interesting to see where the Ford issue finely comes out. I worked for a local dealer here for years and knew that's the first answer you would get as I've seen it so many times before here but never recall anyone pushing further as our owners would eat the loss if people where regular customers, friends or reasonable if they came across as pricks they would simply tell them to _ _ _ _ them self and yea believe it or not that's the way they handle it in a small town here. You think bad for business, maybe but they own all but one of several dealerships as well as other franchises, reality company's , main interest in one of the biggest local banks and the biggest hospital here that everyone knows of. Best of luck I know it's the principal the thing not so many understand today.

+kentuckycowboy2 Hi bud, The dealership have now got back to me and the manager has offered to pay the £40 I spent with them for the seals and the bolt as a good will payment for the petrol. He apologised that it should never have happened if he was there but I still have an ongoing issue with Ford customer service where I've billed them for wasting my time. Cheers Martin

To true . If they well make a mess of it , fix the problem . Forty odd quid would not hurt them . On the amps for the alternator , my brain melted to many zeros . 70 to 90 is about right

Watched this last night whilst we were away in a Premier Inn and made me realize how big our room was! Stick with the ford battle id do the same ;) Being a woman who likes my cars and working on them myself I often get talked to like I am stupid by parts suppliers etc but if I know I am right I stick to my guns ;) Ford are running a campaign right now "Unlearn Ford" make them look stupid,ask them if you should unlearn Ford caring about their customers? Send them an invoiced bill for you fuel and time citing them as incompetent for supplying you with a part that wasn't correct or fit for its purpose. Talking about alternators my current project is an old Mercedes 230e its already killed a battery using the common tests I diagnosed an alternator,replaced that and its still not charging the battery!!!! Grrrrrrrr!!!! Hopefully yours will be the alternator,if not you will end up like me tearing out your hair LOL! Loving the videos and always look forward to the next. Jodie :)

+Joloke08 Hey thanks Jodie, We normally stay in Premier Inn's and they are great. I have logged all calls and invoiced them for my time and it's ongoing at the moment. Sometimes there's a fuse in the charging circuit so it might be worth looking at a wiring diagram to see if this could be the problem. A voltage regulator on some older cars are external to the alternator so this might be the problem also. Thanks for watching Cheers Martin

Ford Alternators are shite Martin, my 4 year old Fiesta with just 18000 on the clock and yes the Alternator went south ,same as yours I checked like us old know how to, tested the output across the battery with the engine running and mine was 12.9v,not enough it should be around 14.7v as you know Martin, any how I booked it in at ford dealer and guess how much supply(recon unit) and fit.......£650 !! in the old days I would have done it myself, its a scam mate , Ford Alternators its good business for Ford :)
