The way Shun interacts with his grandparents is really nice to see. I don't know why it is but these kind of videos I really find very beautiful to see. The island is beautiful, nice to see how self efficient they are there. In my country it would not be true to just catch fish to eat afterwards (this is not allowed). Fish, vegetable garden, grandparents and a beautiful island, what more do you need.

This 100%. People who have real access to countryside life bc of family etc., and don't need to ham it up with crazy energy for the vlog and showing the "tourist/adventurer" things to do; they just show...a regular mundane day, ends up being the best example of a modern-day cultural showcase. Go figure.

@@Ernest0220 as i said, its really a shame such a gorgeous place is getting forgotten and that the school, where most kids make fond memories had to shut down. As much as I like the convenience of city living that view from that bathroom alone would make me move. I think as long as you have good internet service and jobs you could keep some of the younger generation that want to stay. It reminds me of places in the States where it might been known for its food or wine so it gets enough tourists to keep going but not overrun to where it is unenjoyable. I think there needs to be more of that so people can enjoy both ends of the spectrum.

This reminds me so much of home here on Maui especially when your grandpa was fishing, when i was little my uncles would take me fishing at the harbor early in the morning and I remember all the Japanese fisherman young and old would be coming in from the sea, we would put together all our fish and everyone start cooking, fresh sashimi, grilled fish, fried fish, miso soup with massive tuna chunks in it. it was the best of times and it's sad to say that those times are long gone.

I get what you mean about dying villages, it’s how I expect mine to go eventually. There’s all these new houses being built but they’re all gonna be real expensive and no young people are ever gonna be able to afford such prices. I fully expect most of the village folk (mostly old people) to pass away in the next 20 years and we’re then gonna see most of these houses empty cos no-one can afford to move in so it’s just gonna become a ghost town eventually

That was beautiful! The love and respect you have for your grandparents is heartwarming. The town looks like it has a lot of amenities. That is very short sighted of the town officials to not be concerned about the lack of young people in the town. What does he think will happen when all of the elderly residents pass away?
@lynda.grace.142 жыл бұрын
I suspect that the officials simply don't wish to change. They can carry on half asleep at the wheel as they go about their business. That's not uncommon in Japan. The status quo is familiar and they don't have to deal with anything or anyone new. Then you get stagnation resulting from the unwillingness to embrace something unknown.
