This is a glimpse of my day as a 4N051 working as Night Shift Lead in Medical Surgical Unit at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. I work Panama schedule which involves four teams working for two days, taking two days off, and then working for three days.
As a shift lead, I come in early to do daily check lists and receive hand-offs from out-going shift. I delegate patients/work to technicians, coordinate with charge nurse, answer call lights and restock the floor. Patient load is split amongst technicians depending on severity and needs.
A further work breakdown would be:
Doing daily checklists
Delegating patients to technicians
Answering call lights
Patient admission set-up
Patient discharge/room stripping
Vital signs/documentations
Assisting patient with their activities of daily living
Patient hygiene (all the wiping, cleaning, shower, changing)
Linen change
Glucose check, EKG, bladder scans, straight catheters etc..
Medications ( per scope of practice )
Taking patients to appointments
Inserting IV, collecting labs, hanging fluids
BLS transport and more...

Hey! Would you recommend this job for single parents?
@junprelhe3117
@junprelhe3117 2 ай бұрын
@@Its.shaymarie Hello! It's a tricky one since mostly it's the hours that matters. 4N0X1 can work clinic hours(M-F 0730-1630) or shift work(panama 12hrs 2-2-3). For sibgle parents, they benefit more on clinic hours.. and you wouldnt know your hours and where you will work until you get to your base. But job wise, its good.. since you get to move sections every 2-3 years ☺️
