I grew up at few km from Cordes and my family is still there around. Sorry but even if it is not false, this re-migration doesn't compensate the number of people like me who must leave the area for economical reason. There is no university, so we must move at least to Toulouse for study & work. Population of all cities around are stable or decreasing since the 80's. (I checked the info before to write it here) And there is Each time a grocery store or a backery stopped for retirement reason, it get sometime replaced by a truck like this one. Nothing new. I saw it in my village (100 hab.) in the 90's. But it still a good idea, specially for very old people who are not able to transport themself anymore. In general, there is also a weekly bus who bring them to local marcket where you can also find quality local products.

It's hard to imagine that western Paris suburbs (Fontenay, Brie-sur-Marne, Torcy, Bussy saint-George, Marne-la-Vallee, Cressy...) were agricultural lands in the 80's. According to European agricultural politics of EEC, France cut the agricultural land surfaces and urbanised them, but same time increased its agricultural productivity!!

Actually it's not. If you go there you'll still see many fields and a lot of construction ongoing in the middle of fields. Val d'Europe for instance that's urban on a 2 km radius around the RER station then it's semi rural with small residential neighbourhoods surrounded by fields.

Politics from EEC ? Perhaps because population from Île de France passed from 10 millions in 1980 to 12 millions in 2021 !

@@francdagas3664 No it's simply Disneyland Paris which totally changed the area.

So deliveries by drones could be a good solution. To deliver eggs or some vegetables, why not?

Why? The drawbacks are obvious.

@@nedludd7622 drawbacks ? Couldn't any farmer have a few drones that automatically deliver to his customers around his home? I will be happy to automatically receive with drones some eggs, potatoes, zucchini, tomatoes and others things from the farmers around me. But under no circumstances would I want to take the car to drive several kilometers to bring back some eggs.

@@Daemia-o1qIt is not about productivity. It is about creating a social link between people that are lonely and isolated. It is what is making people happy.
