Күн бұрын

It’s our first time in Melaka also known as Malacca, Malaysia’s old port and trading capital. We spent a day in Melaka Malaysia walking around and sharing our experience here and our first impressions of this city. Melaka is a beautiful UNESCO heritage city full of multicultural architectural designs from its colonial past such as French, English, Portuguese and Dutch, as well as the presence of Nyonya and Baba Peranakan culture. The city features canal rivers you can walk by or take a boat cruise along and there is street art everywhere to feast your eyes on. There’s a reason why Melaka is a tourist hotspot and we’re going to discover it all and show you what it's like here and what to expect when you visit….

Thanks for sharing your Melaka vlog. This place is very nice and peaceful. Love those old colonial houses/building and all the street arts. Very nice. Melaka was once colonised by the Portuguese and after that the Dutch took over. That’s why they have these western style infrastructures. Well hope you enjoying yourselves and can’t wait to watch your next Melaka’s vlog. Hope the Weather will improve during your time there. Take care and stay safe! Cheers!

Btw guys, brown sugar and gula melaka(palm sugar) are totally different as brown sugar is unprocessed cane sugar. White sugar is processed cane sugar. Palm sugar is obtained from coconut tree.

Wall art was first popularised in Malaysia since the famous wall art in George Town - Kids on bicycle by Ernest Zacharevic. It became so popular that every other state did the same to attract tourists. They added value to these places, but I prefer them to do something different instead.

You must be wondering why the fort is built in the middle of the town, well during the 1400s Melaka beach was actually right in front of it at the pahlawan mall site. Then in the 80s the sea was up till Mahkota parade, they reclaimed the land, now the coastline is further away.

Melaka, Penang and Singapore formed the Straits Setttlements under British rule which ended in 1957 when we gained independence. The big ship is a replica of the Flor de Lama, the Portuguese galleon involved in the conquest of Melaka in 1511.

Sea Coconut with palm sugar. If you buy from Malay stalls usually the drinks are very sweet. Add more water to it, I prefer to get from Chinese stalls, less sugar and you can always tell them less sugar rather than those already pre-bottled.

they're called trishaws, hence the 3 wheels, two on the carriage in the front and one behind, below the rider, basically a tricycle with a two-seated passenger seat in the front. rickshaws are different, they only have two wheels on the carriage, because the rickshaw puller will be in front lifting the two long poles extended from the carriage and bringing you around with his feet. in malaysia, we have trishaws, rickshaws are more common in japan.
