I worked as a research intern at Nanjing University in the environmental science department back in 2018! This video brought back so many fond memories, from the subways, rental bikes, and student canteens to the graduate student offices (looked identical to when I worked there). @@humbertosilva4140 Hi, Humberto, I cannot recommend China enough to anyone who has the opportunity to work, visit, or study there. Although I’ve not studied abroad in China (only interned at the university), I did both my undergraduate and post-grad degrees abroad in different countries, and studying abroad is such an enriching experience. China certainly had the largest cultural and linguistic differences of any place I lived, but I think that’s part of what made it so wonderful. I can’t speak to the challenges of doing a phd in China, but all the professors I met were so kind, welcoming, and supportive. I would go back to China in a heartbeat given the opportunity, and I’d tell anyone considering studying in China to give it a go. There were certainly some more difficult moments (as you’d encounter anywhere), but I look back on my experience there with only positive memories.

Hey Katherine, I will need to give you even more credit as an American woman studying in China. I get dizzy reading heavily texted document in Chinese and you took it in stride and thrive with your thesis. And I appreciate how you have embrace the culture, never complaint about anything or getting stuck in the small cubby hole of an office with many other students. You can and will be an ambassador that bridge the people and help countries coexist peacefully together. Keep up the good work.

Who was the biggest mass murderer in the history of the world? Most people probably assume that the answer is Adolf Hitler, architect of the Holocaust. Others might guess Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin, who may indeed have managed to kill even more innocent people than Hitler did, many of them as part of a terror famine that likely took more lives than the Holocaust. But both Hitler and Stalin were outdone by Mao Zedong. From 1958 to 1962, his Great Leap Forward policy led to the deaths of up to 45 million people - easily making it the biggest episode of mass murder ever recorded. 300 million homeless in china today

I loved your afternoon walk, I enjoy listening to the birds sing too! I'm glad that people feed the stray cats or they might try to catch the birds! Anyway, it's cool that you mentioned China and its concept of living in harmony with the environment, because that goes way back. In fact, the first environmental laws were decreed in China nearly 4000 years ago, during the period of Dayu when there were bans on chopping wood or fishing during certain times of the year. Later on, in the Warring States period, around 2500 years ago, there were rules to ensure that rivers were not blocked and a ban on burning trees or brush for fertilizer except during most of the year. Thanks for the video.

A year ago I was traveling through the north of SE Asia, down the Mekong to Laos. It was during the (slash)&burn season. It was so bad I felt as though I was fleeing fr/Thailand to Laos which was worse, finally I had to fly to Vietnam to escape the smoke of the burning house that was SE Asia. While doing this I thought about taking the brand new high speed train to Kunming fr/Laos to escape the smoke. It was all the way up into So.China. The rumors on the ground were that China was threatening the death penalty for anyone in that part of Yunnan who started fires using s&b ag.method. We all laughed at the 'bent rumors' bc/ it sounded a bit extreme. However, the smoke was like being in a giant house on fire and you couldn't get out. It would be interesting to actually see how this problem is being dealt with in China, in So.Yunnan. It is becoming an obsolete type of ag. I'd imagine as there's less&less to burn!

I have been put to shame seeing that full thesis written in mandarin, that is something I don't think I can do. But even more admirable is how you are so open and constantly learning more about the Chinese language and culture; that is an attitude I can definitely strive to follow regarding my own passions.

I used to live in Nanjing but I'm from Canada, I lived there when I was ages 6-11, that was 7 years ago, I used to go to the international school right by the metro you take. I really have great memories and would love to visit back. Hope you enjoy!

Nicely shot video with non intrusive narration. The university and surroundings were cool to look at. The thing about nature and human co-existance is embedded in Indian culture as well.

I honestly appreciate your attitude towards study ,because I study English since I was middle school and right now I’m 20 in New Zealand for university but each assessment or essay I did badly and I hate to read all the English articles even that’s much easier to me than for you to reading Chinese. Through this video you inspired me ,this is much more than teacher or parents tell you to work hard. And by the way I from ChengDu + I am lazy it’s not because where I from it’s because my own problem LoL.

Nanjing's scenery is beautiful. I love Xuanwu Lake and Purple Mountain. I remember there's a plaque by the lake that records how Sun Yat-sen described Nanjing as the perfect city, being positioned around lakes, mountains and the nearby Yangtze.

I have been to Nanjing just to visit the women's museum, love the city so green, clean, and rich history. It is so sad for sex slave women to the Japanese, but I prefer Wuzhou near Shanghai. Congratulation on your experience and education. I am sure it's your lifetime memory. Take care.

The university in GD is too much in number, it is very different if you are in different city/uni. If in GZ, the haizhu/zengchen/baiyun/tianhe district are totally different, some are near to park, other might be close to industrial zone/city center.
