Thanks Kat for answering my question on bird watching. Yes, since chicken is also a bird and you like chicken, I guess you can be considered a birder (or bird watcher) too. I am a birder from Malaysia. That leads me to another question. Of all places why did you mention Malaysia as a possible country that you may want to stay in? If I remember correctly you visited Malaysia while on your way back to China recently am I correct? Please do elaborate a little on your visit to Malaysia.

That would be a great episode!!! It's quite the trend with the various foreigner-in-China KZbin channels like Cyrus Jansen's and Wei Ge & Aliona, parent-in-China episodes that are very interesting and funny and even cute!!
Even sitting down in one place answering questions you still made it an interesting video to watch. Maybe it’s the mix of your honesty and wittiness but definitely the fun editing too! :D

Thank you Katherine very much for spreading your positivity around the world. Unfortunately China is much being shunned and has a very negative and even evil image in the west. Especially during this time of global geopolitical conflict and between the US and China. I admire your unbiased, free of prejudice, explorative mind and innocent perception of things. I believe you have a very good and pure heart and you are a valuable soul for mankind and FOR CHINA!; that can contribute much to crossing bridges between different culture, spreading Love among humans, discover what we all have in common despite our differences and expanding the horizon of human consciousness. I wish you much joy in your journey to the east. Please keep being the way you are.
@KrisVonCN Жыл бұрын
You know the tense coflic and situation between the US and CN is not a short period thing. China's rapid rising made US scares of that. The Media in China may broadcast news how US put pressure on China, which makes normal people get pissed and angry. And same, westernal Media also black China with roumors as well. But please feel safe and relived that Chinese people are always friendly to all foreigners from whole world. Anyway, live your own life well, Chinese people doesn't talk politics too often. Cause it's a tough topic to talk with. Maybe Chinese people always show respect and kindness to all other countries which are friendly to China, not for the one treating CN as a threat. Love and understandings can clear all the prejudices. Normal people both are innocent, no matter Chinese or Americans.
If you believe China is a peaceful and progressive country, raise your hand ✋👍🙋

With due respect, it should be Miss Olsen. The wai guo reng, also get our usage of addressing wrong, with Asia, we place the surname first and the given name second. Hence Xi is the surname of the President and not Ping. Maybe we should start using the correct nomenclature and learn about each other's custom and practices.

I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out with Wei but happier that you took the step that so many in unhappy relationships dread taking. A year ago, I broke up with my long term partner and it was one of the hardest decisions of my life. We had spent much of our 3 years long distance, travelling the country, moving in together far from either of our homes and starting new in a new place. After it ended, I was left to pick up the pieces of my life and, in a way, pick up where I left off before I began my journey with her. You will always remember the memories you spent with that person but as time goes on, and more memories are created, you'll learn to be grateful for that chapter in your life and the personal growth that you underwent. When you feel down and that pit in your stomach returns, remind yourself why you made that hard decision, forgive yourself, and look forward to all that's to come.

I’d like to share my understanding of Chinese characters with people who are interested in Chinese. Chinese characters still retain their pictographic origins. Knowing what the characters look like originally can help understand the meanings and remember them. I’ve spent about 100,000 hours studying English humor and Western culture, and many years studying Chinese culture and jokes. My native language is Chinese.

Only 1/3 of US population has a passport. So not every American is know it all about other countries. There have been a lot of misinformation about China that were sponsored by US government. It is good to see common people in China talk about world politics. US often talk about environmental protection but have done with little in supporting it instead of using that as a tool for geopolitics.

C'mon, you can do better than chicken-watching. 😛 Using bird feeders is a baby step up. California is blessed for being smack right in the middle of the Pacific Flyway. There are many fantastic wildlife areas where migratory birds rest during their spring and fall migrations. I especially love watching them taking off in the early morning before sunrise. The sight is simply mesmerizing. One time I encountered a great number of Tundra swans in a Central Valley wildlife refuge. It was late in the afternoon and they took off a few small groups at a time shortly before sunset. It was an unexpected sighting as this wildlife refuge does not list Tundra swans on the bird list. There must be areas in China where migratory birds rest. To get really good pictures (still or motion), however, you do need a powerful zoom lens.
