Sharing your journey has given me hope & helped me help him in better ways. 💗 Thank you for the bottom of my heart. We're exploring options with his doctor 's about keto for him. The medication he was on caused weight gain increases in appetite... He was recently diagnosed as diabetic. So definitely doing under a doctor's care if it is an option for him. ❤

Almost 2 years on carnivore for schizophrenia and i am off my meds but wow what a hell. This did work for me but going off the meds in the right order might be SUPER helpful. I did this on my own, with my doctor who is not an expert on this, and going off meds in the right order, in retrospect, might have been so much easier. My depression went away first, schizophrenia at about the 8 week mark. Avoid sugar. I carry haldol on me key chain still for accidental sugar intake at restaurants that can trigger my symptoms almost right away (psychosis usually). I am very ill and at one point, about a year in, mostly off my meds i just starting crying in happiness and that went on for a few months. I did not realize i was not having smell correctly and many other senses and realizing they are back was just too much emotions at once so i cried daily. Carnivore is sort of the simple version of this diet. I jumped from 6 years vegan to carnivore because the meds suck and don't work that well. I do miss vegetables some but oh well. You probably don't need to worry about cholesterol as long as other metabolic features are healthy. Not a doc - clearly - but have a few and are well monitored and tested. Blood pressure may flux wildly, don't pass out, come off blood pressure meds perhaps. If you can get a metabolic doctor do that. I have good insurance but could not and was not going to wait so I am my doctors second patient to do this full on because i want to actually recover. I am still on my mood stabilizer because why not. All your stims, anti-depressants and even anti-psychotics will eventually sort of interfere with the ketones like your taking too much meds. ADHD for me got better last. I have gone from there is no way i don't end up dead - probably accidentally - without meds to i just take them in miniscule doses because i have always taken them my entire life (20+ years). I went from maxed out doses, sometimes over the dosing range, to the smallest doses they make. I eliminated 4 our of the 8 meds i took including vyvance, a harsh med that i never could function without prior. Your gut biome will reset, i am sure you have noticed. We are all horribly addicted to sugar, i am sure you have noticed. It only lasts a few weeks. Best of luck!

Great to see! Be careful with your sleep. Glad you are keeping an eye on that. So happy your journey is going well Lauren, and Rob, and I am wishing you all the health and serenity 🙏🏻💚 it is also so interesting how our bodies react so differently…I am still hanging on there but my experience is still not good at all so far…and it’s been over a month of very strict carbs plus two months prior of transitioning + working on it imperfectly. The 23:30 depression has gotten even worse. I gained weight.and other negatives. I am in a free keto support group and they say to trust the process and give it time but it’s so hard…I just received dr. Ede’s book and I hope that may help maybe tweaking something…for example I am one of those who cannot handle the sweeteners, plus I hate the taste. I am not craving any carbs at all but I am really not liking this way of eating…I am so needing this to work for the depression 🙏🏻

I had to go to different courts on a daily basis and handle matters that were severe. I was bonded for about 10 Million Dollars. Then after years, my mental health just ate at me..... I had no control over it. I went from 10 years as a outstanding person in in the court system and business owner. Then, my mental health went down. Hi Lauren, I can't express how exciting it is to even find any victories at this phase of the Keto journey for your mental health. I tried the keto diet maybe 7 years ago, and for me, it just did not work. what happened was I never ate ice cream and once I went on the keto diet I'm not kidding you, every night I was eating a pint of ice cream I couldn't stop it. I didn't know what was happening and I still lost weight which is why I went on it. now I want to talk about why it's so important that you are counting macros, that you have any assistance to be very strict. if people are making any comments that you need to do dirty keto they don't get it. You are doing this for a serious mental illness and I think it is so important to do everything as strictly,as possible. and people will say your so Anal. I Admire that you are giving this 100%. If you don't you'll never know if your condition could have truly been changed for the better. Hopefully for the WAY BETTER. I have a question. If you are eating a keto snack and it has no carbs or sugar why would that not be okay to eat? Rob its been cool to have you in the videos. And Great to see your kids.

HI Lauren, thank you for all that you do, it's inspiring, and insightful. I would like to suggest something,as I see that you mentioned circadian rhythm , it is a device that measures and gives you information about the light source you point it at, including being able to measure the spectrum outside with the sun. This also allows you to understand how many lux and what type of light is in your environment, this is extremely helpful because you can then include this information much like measuring ketones or glucose, and then take the appropriate action to better optimise your circadian rhythm, and it is kinda fun, and interesting to see how morning light from the sun can be beneficial and what it contains, and what the indoor lights are like, it's called a hand held spectrometer, although it's expensive you may find it helpful, I have a Hopoocolor OHSP350 Spectrometer Light Portable Spectrum Analyser, this may allow you to make adjustments with knowing instead of guessing, for instance also whether there is too much blue light at night

I think you should just stick with trying to eat healthy. I know I’ve left similar messages like this to you before. I’m still watching your journey. I wonder if you should be wearing blue light blockers in the morning? In the morning, you want bright light (ideally outside in sunlight). Blue blockers after the sun goes down can be helpful.

It looked like she was wearing blue light glasses

@@BronsteinEmily My point was more that blocking blue light in the morning/daytime is not conducive to helping your circadian rhythm - you need to see the full spectrum then.

Right. I understood your point but I'm saying I don't think she's blocking blue light she is wearing glasses that shine blue light into her eyes @@kimberlyf4888

Acetyl l carnitine is an anti depressant it doesnt just help with fat metabolism. It makes you wonder if medical keto accounts for all the improvements?

I wonder if there’s a link to the mthfr genetic polymorphism (mutation) to schizophrenia? My sister is on antipsychotic medication and has certain health conditions that I also have. I found out I have the mthfr mutation through the 23andMe test and changed my b vitamins to the methylated version which addressed my anxiety and depression. I read a study of how a group of people with schizophrenia were treated with methylated b complex and a huge percentage of them found their symptoms improve greatly. Worth investigating? I have high functioning autism and adhd and I know I have issues with my neurotransmitters. I’ve found going keto has improved certain issues. Sending love and healing to anybody that needs it ❤
