I think in years to come you and others doing medical keto will be thought as pioneers in this type of intervention. It’s inspiring me as well. I have scizoaffective and I hope to do this one day too with help from my mental health team.

You've helped me as a mother so much. My youngest son is schizoaffective (and high functioning autistic) I've struggled finding good information and understanding. Sharing your journey has given me hope & helped me help him in better ways. 💗 Thank you for the bottom of my heart. We're exploring options with his doctor 's about keto for him. The medication he was on caused weight gain increases in appetite... He was recently diagnosed as diabetic. So definitely doing under a doctor's care if it is an option for him. ❤

Almost 2 years on carnivore for schizophrenia and i am off my meds but wow what a hell. This did work for me but going off the meds in the right order might be SUPER helpful. I did this on my own, with my doctor who is not an expert on this, and going off meds in the right order, in retrospect, might have been so much easier. My depression went away first, schizophrenia at about the 8 week mark. Avoid sugar. I carry haldol on me key chain still for accidental sugar intake at restaurants that can trigger my symptoms almost right away (psychosis usually). I am very ill and at one point, about a year in, mostly off my meds i just starting crying in happiness and that went on for a few months. I did not realize i was not having smell correctly and many other senses and realizing they are back was just too much emotions at once so i cried daily. Carnivore is sort of the simple version of this diet. I jumped from 6 years vegan to carnivore because the meds suck and don't work that well. I do miss vegetables some but oh well. You probably don't need to worry about cholesterol as long as other metabolic features are healthy. Not a doc - clearly - but have a few and are well monitored and tested. Blood pressure may flux wildly, don't pass out, come off blood pressure meds perhaps. If you can get a metabolic doctor do that. I have good insurance but could not and was not going to wait so I am my doctors second patient to do this full on because i want to actually recover. I am still on my mood stabilizer because why not. All your stims, anti-depressants and even anti-psychotics will eventually sort of interfere with the ketones like your taking too much meds. ADHD for me got better last. I have gone from there is no way i don't end up dead - probably accidentally - without meds to i just take them in miniscule doses because i have always taken them my entire life (20+ years). I went from maxed out doses, sometimes over the dosing range, to the smallest doses they make. I eliminated 4 our of the 8 meds i took including vyvance, a harsh med that i never could function without prior. Your gut biome will reset, i am sure you have noticed. We are all horribly addicted to sugar, i am sure you have noticed. It only lasts a few weeks. Best of luck!

Lauren, you and Rob AND the kids have really put in the work during this Keto adventure. As we all know, Life has a way of not letting us get too comfortable with all the rainbows and lollipops and gumdrops of a "new thing" by reminding us to side-step the "piles' that poop...er, I mean POP UP in front of us from time to time. What I have very much enjoyed is BOTH of you feeling more and more comfortable with your Fanbase in here and sharing things with us all that quite possibly a few months ago was a No Way situation. I've learned a ton about things that I never thought twice about before and your sharing is not lost on your Fans! Cheers and Blessings From COW-lumbus, Ohio MOO 👋👍

keto or low-glycemic eating really helps me with my binge eating and depression. but if i noticed if i eat a lot of protein, it can lead to paranoia and manic episodes (due to slow COMT), so it's definitely a balancing act. im happy to see that you're being supported by so many professionals, ensuring you're safe and healthy. also, taking magnesium before bed can help with sleep for many people. wishing you the best.

Great to see! Be careful with your sleep. Glad you are keeping an eye on that. I know Dr. Palmer has discussed sometimes using a medical sleep aid if the patient starts sleeping less than 6 hours and pushing towards mania at least for a few days and by then it usually passes. Also be careful with erythritol! I think allulose is a lot more benign but I'm not sure if it's available in Canada. Cheers Also very interesting to see two people eating the exact same things but one is have ketones 1.5 to 2x higher. I'm not sure if it can be explained entirely by the extra exercise Laruen does

Since starting I've lost 6lbs, my mind isn't racing as much my jaw isn't tense and genuinely feeling more positive. I also noticed I've started sleeping later then usual and you mentioning could be mania creeping in, I never thought of this! 🤔

So happy your journey is going well Lauren, and Rob, and I am wishing you all the health and serenity 🙏🏻💚 it is also so interesting how our bodies react so differently…I am still hanging on there but my experience is still not good at all so far…and it’s been over a month of very strict carbs plus two months prior of transitioning + working on it imperfectly. The 23:30 depression has gotten even worse. I gained weight.and other negatives. I am in a free keto support group and they say to trust the process and give it time but it’s so hard…I just received dr. Ede’s book and I hope that may help maybe tweaking something…for example I am one of those who cannot handle the sweeteners, plus I hate the taste. I am not craving any carbs at all but I am really not liking this way of eating…I am so needing this to work for the depression 🙏🏻

I have to add this comment so you will see it and others. I live with with mental health disorders myself. I was once a person that was great in my career. I had to go to different courts on a daily basis and handle matters that were severe. I was bonded for about 10 Million Dollars. Then after years, my mental health just ate at me..... I had no control over it. I went from 10 years as a outstanding person in in the court system and business owner. Then, my mental health went down. Since then, I have had multiple stays at a "mental facility". I am so glad.

Hi Lauren, I can't express how exciting it is to even find any victories at this phase of the Keto journey for your mental health. I tried the keto diet maybe 7 years ago, and for me, it just did not work. what happened was I never ate ice cream and once I went on the keto diet I'm not kidding you, every night I was eating a pint of ice cream I couldn't stop it. I didn't know what was happening and I still lost weight which is why I went on it. now I want to talk about why it's so important that you are counting macros, that you have any assistance to be very strict. if people are making any comments that you need to do dirty keto they don't get it. You are doing this for a serious mental illness and I think it is so important to do everything as strictly,as possible. and people will say your so Anal. I Admire that you are giving this 100%. If you don't you'll never know if your condition could have truly been changed for the better. Hopefully for the WAY BETTER. I have a question. If you are eating a keto snack and it has no carbs or sugar why would that not be okay to eat? Rob its been cool to have you in the videos. And Great to see your kids.

HI Lauren, thank you for all that you do, it's inspiring, and insightful. I would like to suggest something,as I see that you mentioned circadian rhythm , it is a device that measures and gives you information about the light source you point it at, including being able to measure the spectrum outside with the sun. This also allows you to understand how many lux and what type of light is in your environment, this is extremely helpful because you can then include this information much like measuring ketones or glucose, and then take the appropriate action to better optimise your circadian rhythm, and it is kinda fun, and interesting to see how morning light from the sun can be beneficial and what it contains, and what the indoor lights are like, it's called a hand held spectrometer, although it's expensive you may find it helpful, I have a Hopoocolor OHSP350 Spectrometer Light Portable Spectrum Analyser, this may allow you to make adjustments with knowing instead of guessing, for instance also whether there is too much blue light at night

Otherwise, amazing how this low dose of antipsychotic is going well for you - such a big leap and very promising! And way to be so aware of potential mania- hopefully that does not happen - I wish there was no such thing as sleep and we could always be awake....Meanwhile, very fun video! @Wind-lx8zb firstly because there have been multiple studies that have shown it to be the case. Also, I have practiced as a chiropractor for over 20 years specializing in nutrition and digestive health. I have seen first hand the benefits of restoring gut health and its positive impact on certain aspects of mental health. My son has also been diagnosed with schizophrenia along with other Dx's that do seem to improve when his diet is adjusted. There is also a known correlation between "leaky gut" and fibromyalgia or the associated symptoms of FM.

I tried keto a few years ago for weight loss. While I definitely saw a few benefits, my cholesterol spiked to very high levels. I know you're doing it for differents ressons and I hope you see success, but I would encourage you to watch your health closely on keto.

Congrats, you are a very lucky person. My family excommunicated me, and I have lived on and off the streets for the last 13 years. Luckily, a friend and her husband let me rent a room at a rate I can afford with my Social Security payments. Do you have any suggestions/recommendations for someone who can't afford a gym membership, keto-friendly foods, a keto coach, and bluelight glasses? Thank you.

I’m happy for you but for the normal person finding support in the medical community is like searching for a needle in the haystack. Also all the gizmos you use to check ketones and blood sugar are very costly

Hi Lauren!!! It’s great that you are a big believer in diet and exercise. All this messing around with needles poking your fingers and such, you’re going to get really tired of doing that. People who have diabetes get tired of it. Be very careful as to how you’re disposing these needles and how you’re bandaging your fingers and cleaning up the blood, contracting hepatitis is a very real thing. I think you should just stick with trying to eat healthy. I know I’ve left similar messages like this to you before. I’m still watching your journey. I think needing the anti psychotic medication has much more to do with the stressors in your life and how you can cope with things happening rather than this keto diet making much of a difference with that.

Who are you? Why on earth would she act on your comment? Why on earth do you even feel qualified to give her your opinion?? 🤦‍♀️ some of y’all sound extremely entitled. You do realize there are hundreds of comments? Hundreds of strangers giving their opinions.. why do you think your voice deserves to be heard in the mass of all the other’s?

Did you spoke with your doctor about supplementing with Potassium ?. My docror said i should only take potassium when i have low potassium in my blood because it can cause cardiac arrest or attack ? I don't know the right name in english but that your heart stops😅 and is very serious. I was supplementing myself with Potassium too and my doctor went crazy. Please ask your doctor.

Oh and I don't know if you have Violife Vegan Cheese there, but it's made with Coconut Oil and it's not the "same" but I can't eat dairy and I like it! I think it's good for keto as well since it's coconut oil with mct and fat! (There are lots of other brands violife is just my favorite.)

I wonder if you should be wearing blue light blockers in the morning? In the morning, you want bright light (ideally outside in sunlight). Blue blockers after the sun goes down can be helpful.

I wonder if there’s a link to the mthfr genetic polymorphism (mutation) to schizophrenia? My sister is on antipsychotic medication and has certain health conditions that I also have. I found out I have the mthfr mutation through the 23andMe test and changed my b vitamins to the methylated version which addressed my anxiety and depression. I read a study of how a group of people with schizophrenia were treated with methylated b complex and a huge percentage of them found their symptoms improve greatly. Worth investigating? I have high functioning autism and adhd and I know I have issues with my neurotransmitters. I’ve found going keto has improved certain issues. Sending love and healing to anybody that needs it ❤
