I am honored to see this. One thing we struggle with living in Florida is filming it and capturing what makes it unique. Never struggled doing that in LA. Watching this makes me realize we tend to love the place we call home so much that as artists we want to share it. I thank you for sharing your home with us. Beautifully shot. Great music choices. And a solid 5 minutes of escape for me to see the place that contains history and your love. Seems like a wonderful place, full of inspiration. Amazing work. 🧡

It’s a one I agree with you with, your local area may seem routine or normal because of everyday life and one thing I learnt whilst filming this is there parts of Newcastle that is beautiful and the scenery is great, more so probably for people who’s never been here before. I liked the way you just captured a normal day and used a wide variety of shots, music and have the glimpse of just a day that some of us could take for granted. The Pepsi shot, shots of over looking the city, the flowers. It all came together nicely

MIKE! Thank you for sharing this with me. I enjoyed this quick little glimpse of Newcastle. I honestly had no idea what it even looked like, so this was a treat. I especially appreciated the contrast between old and new in the city and how you were able to show that so clearly. I also loved the focus on the monument to those who have fallen in service to the country - specifically, the angle at which you shot that part, looking up from behind the statue of the woman and walking around to the other side of her. That was cool. I also liked the focus on the littered Pepsi can, and the shot of the camera looking out from the can at the people walking in the street. All in all, a nicely made short film about the city. The *only* suggestions I have are editing related and occur in two places. The first one was around the 1:33-ish mark, where the camera was set down to film people (and you) walking past. My suggestion is that it might flow a tad better if it wasn't obvious that the camera was being laid on the ground, so maybe like a dissolve/fade from the shot right before it is placed on the ground and to when it's actually on the ground. The other location was around the 3:40-ish mark where you sat down on the curb, then quickly got back up. Might look more effective to just dissolve/transition to the next scene instead of seeing you get back up. Those are the only things that jumped out at me, and they are very minor. You’re absolutely welcome in terms of having an early screening to check this one out, I really appreciate your take and your detailed descriptions of how you talk about anything on your channel. I really appreciate the really constructive feedback with what went well and what I could improve on. In terms of the transitions, you make a really great point and in terms of not being obviously set on the ground I completely get where you are coming from, I thought it would be setting it on the ground and walk past but as you mentioned, it can come across as quite obvious. In terms of sitting down transition I completely get where you are also making a great point in terms of the transition I could’ve used to just give it that more of an effect in the long run and any feedback you have given. I am absolutely taken on board along with other people so next time I create something that’s even more magical to improve as I continue to continue filmmaking journey.

Mike The Movie Maker Awakens!!! You have some really great shots here. My personal favorite was the one featuring the Pepsi can. Constructively, there are moments with the camerawork and transitions that don't feel as fluid as they could. But outside of that, I enjoyed getting a sneak peek into this piece of your life, especially from another creative angle. 👌👌👌

My thoughts: I deff thought it was a pleasant experience watching. In fact if were a movie I was thinking the entire time this 5 min video would be the segment in the movie were the main character exploring the city with their new found loved one. A lot of good establishing shots. My favorite part was the Hancock museum. I deff feel the music helped carry the video to help elevate it so great selection of song choices made. Overall I thought it was pretty good watch. Great work

Great work on this, man! Such a loving portrayal of your hometown. You can tell it was done by a local. Really enjoyed how you transitioned from a lot of close-ups to wider shots of the city as the video goes on. If I have any feedback, it would mainly be that there's a few transitions that came across a bit abrupt or unnatural. One where the music changes too abruptly, and a couple where the effect looks like iMovie transitions, but I think overall you have a really good feel for editing transitions. The Pepsi one was really cool! Keep up the excellent work, man!

I can see some of the diversity of Newcastle here, I'd like to see more of it filmed. Very happy you went to NUFC! As said elsewhere, a gimbal would help, some of the shots were a bit unsteady for me. I also would like narration, and themes maybe. The narration wouldn't need to be you, but the accent there is so rich it would be great to hear random people narrate parts of it, their day / football experiences / food in Chinatown. That kind of thing.

Thank you so much for checking out the short film and for the very kind words and constructive feedback, it really does mean a lot :-) in terms of the gimble, I was only made aware about this after I had done the entire thing and pretty much the next day because I didn’t know that the existed. I did use my tripod throughout however clearly it wasn’t steady enough ha ha. In terms of the narration, I did think about this a lot when putting this together but ultimately decided against it as as I wanted to test my abilities of not having my face on camera or my voice but purely telling the story through musuc

Some great cinematic shots, enjoyed you playing with angles, focus and reveal type clips - You need some form of steadycam, maybe a dji osmo if you using a phone to film. IT Would really help add some smoothNess to these type of beautiful shots & locations. Overall great work and look forward to seeing more videos of this style :)

First off, thank you so much for sharing this with me early and congrats on your first short! There’s some great shots and camera work here as well as good editing. It was nice to see different parts of your city. I loved the Pepsi can shot and transition especially. The Vintage Scene sign was very cool. I love the time we got with animals; living or museum exhibits. I enjoyed the music throughout. So at about 02:47 it transitions from one concrete wall or whatever to another one and that transition was a little jarring. Maybe a cross blur would have smoothed it out a bit, if that’s what you were going for. But great job, creating a video or a film, long or short, takes work and I think this is a good first short!
