The first time I visited was in 1995, I can't believe it was nearly 30 years ago. Two things stick out in my mind, the first was just the sheer number of elephants, at one point there must have been 30 or 40 including several tiny babies. The second, was sitting in the bar in the evening listening to the hippos, I just love their vocalisations, even now hearing one on tv can make me feel warm and fuzzy 😊

Yes in 1996...after Okavango and Savuti. Wild dog with a buffalo calf kill and a very lucky and pleasing encounter wit a herd of sable that ran from the Mopane across the flats to the river . Id hoped to see both species on the trip !!

I have spend so many wonderful moments on the Chobe with the Pangolin team. I loved the elephants, the african jacanas, the yellow-billed storks building their nests and so much more.

How can I choose just one moment...there were so many! Being able to try out a camera on the boat and on the safari vehicles was a highlight. Seeing so many elephants was spectacular. We saw several species of jackel too. The hotel and staff were sensational! The food was delicious. Next time.. We find a pangolin, ok?

A fine video. The opening scene with the elephant in the river was great. Later, the African sunset I remember so fondly provided perfect silhouettes. Your staff seems great. I’m saving up!

There were so many special moments during my 7 night stay in April 2022. The stay was absolutely fantastic. For me the best moment is when Guts told me, during a group photo editing session, that he was jealous of one of my photos. It was a photo that was made possible by Pangolin loaning me a camera and lens after my Sigma 60-600mm Nikon mount lens failed on the FIRST day! Through the patience and expertise of Sarah and Janine, I learned to shoot with a Canon after 45 years of only using Nikon.

I have one photo that I took next to Guts in the Mara that he has admitted was better than his...Its my phone screensaver! - Toby ;-)

Great video guys. What rig are you using?
@QuintinMills2 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, thanks for the compliment. I was using a Canon EOS R5 and an EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L II mostly hand held, some shots with a DJI RS 2 Gimbal. For the longer shots i used an EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II. Shout if you have any other questions. Q

@@QuintinMills Thanks appreciate it. I have a question re your experience. Clearly the inbuilt 5 axis image stabilization cannot compete with the DJI RS but how effective is the inbuilt Canon IS for video. I guess it also depends on the lens focal length and so on.
@QuintinMills2 жыл бұрын
@@richardruda267 So i am going to say that is is pretty darn capable for 90% of what you would need. There are times when wide open that there is a bit of a "wobble" on the outsides, but overall it is brilliant. Obv a gimbal will always have smoother movement when walking / running / moving over terrain with a subject, but i find it easier to hand hold for more close quarter footage that i need to move to exactly where i need it when i need it. I was able to handhold the 100-400 at 400mm successfully even on a moving boat so very impressed 🙂
