Even with this vid filmed before the wedding I watched it with a little more warmth in my heart. I'm a dad and a grandad and I'm old fashioned, (just the way it is) Congrats guys. Looking forward to many more years of your adventurous lives.

Same here my friend, same here. I’ve watched them since the last days of Tula OG. Sierra is a real gem. I hope Billy never lets her forget that. Or forget it for himself. They seem pretty darn good together so far. And spending time with your spouse and seeking privacy to enjoy the nature together, that’s true friendship as well, so I’m happy to see them be married!!

Welcome to the San Juan Islands. We have lived here for the past 25 years and have cruised here for over 50 years. I'm glad you are enjoying what we believe are part of the best cruising grounds in the world. You have just scratched the surface of the Pacific Northwest cruising grounds, especially, the Inside Passage between Puget Sound and Southeast Alaska: 1200 miles of (mostly) sheltered waters that almost any boat can handle. There are just a few open water crossings, and if you just pick your weather everything is fine. If you end up cruising and voyaging extensively, plan at least one full season in the Pacific Northwest. Once you've been to Alaska, you never come all the way back.

Hello from MokiMak. So glad you had a good time sailing her, and congratulations on your recent nuptials. I hope your new Seawind meets all your expectations and then some. We haven’t seen many killer whales in the San Juans. Most of our sightings have been further north in Canada and Alaska. I totally agree with you about the galley down, the heater and the shower, it makes for such comfort on the boat. We are selling Moki in late summer as we are buying the larger Seawind 1370 next year. We are going to miss her but someone else will be having some great adventures in a tried and true and loved sailing vessel just like we have. Maybe we’ll see you in the South Seas someday. Safe passage.

You guys are alright. Thx for bringing back the days when I hiked NH> white MT's. Skied many places and hang glide some of the peaks.. we need to turn off the TV world and get outside and find a place with few interruptions then reconnect our body, mind & soul. It's free even if it's just a walk to nowhere. "Die with memories not dreams"

My brother and I go once a year to the island for my nephew's birthday we explore the whole island riding bikes and going on hikes!!! If you go to rouche harbor, we always stop at this place I think it's called madrona bar and grill!!!! Absolutely amazing food!!!! But nothing beats the time we grilled salmon at the skate park basically right off the ocean and hit the skate park after!!!!!! Absolutely the best meal I have ever had. I fell in love with the San Juan islands mainly Friday harbor! I dream about getting a catamaran and just living out there. I can't wait for the day that I can finally live out there I'm tired of Colorado 🤣

Glad you found the San Juans. My introduction was via sea kayak (I built a kit boat by Pygmy out of Port Townsend), paddled to all the places you sailed. Years later (2019) took a course with San Juan Sailing, spent a week sailing to all the same places, very cool to experience it from that side as well. We did spend one night in a Roche Harbor slip, as advertised it was very snooty. All those weird swirly currents you sailed through are a whole other thing in a sea kayak :D. Thanks for sharing your time there

It seems even more special to watch since you are here in my neck of the woods. The island folks around here are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. And if you ever come back this way you definitely need to surf Tofino B.C.

Hey guys! Congrats on the nuptials! I have friends in Vietnam. Without running water. Try this Vietnam shower. Put about three to four gallons of comfortable temperature water in a bucket in the shower. Then with a 1 qt scoop or plastic cup, slowly pour one quart on your head (ladies may need an extra scoop for their hair) then one quart over your body slowly. Soap and shampoo. I kept a scoop of water on the side to rinse my hands without soaping the bucket. You now have 12 plus quarts of water to ladle shower over yourself to rinse. The stream of water coming out of the scoop hitting you has a different feel than a regular shower. It's heavy and luxurious. You can feel the heavy water hit you and then roll down from the top to the bottom. Pour it over a 5 to 15 second interval each scoop. It feels like a water massage. And all this for only three to four gallons of water per shower. On cold mornings it can be done with five to six scoops and just a couple minutes! Effective therapeutic way to conserve water!

Billy, the heaters that have "moist heat" are likely ventless heaters that vent their exhaust into the cabin. This is not something I would recommend because it traps the moisture that is a byproduct of combustion in the boat, and boats are humid enough already. That doesn't even address the carbon monoxide that stays in the cabin. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

Webasto heaters sometimes get obnoxious problems and don't stay lit. I love them when they work right though. I have a cooktop heater where you fold the top down and the fan blows air out in my much smaller boat. Works pretty well but won't put out nearly the same heat as the Webasto units. There's also some Chinese knock off Webasto units.

Again I love to see your dog each week, but this is a preveiw of what it will be like when you get your new boat. I saw the red barn in the begenning of this program, and asked why old barns were usualy red. The answer was in the beginning of our nation there were no paint stores so farmers mix rust with flax seed oil, and it protected wood from fungus, mold, and rot.

We had a garage sale last summer and a family emergency happened during the sale. So we decided to try the honor system while we were away. And none of the neighbors saw a thing, although I've seen some of them wearing my old clothes :-)

Well, you should have had me with you, because I always see Orcas! I don't think I have ever been out on the Sound when I didn't see Orcas. I don't think I have ever been out on any ocean when I didn't see dolphins, Orcas, or whales! My ex would get so mad at me because I would come home bragging about seeing so many Orcas on my ferry ride, so he would decide to go to Friday harbor over the weekend on the ferry. Nothing, till he left to go to the bathroom or get a cup of coffee and they would show up, and by the time he got back the would be gone. Hehehehe! He swore I had some kind of special connection with them. I have even had them breach right next to the boat and found myself looking one in the eye and it me!

Braised Brussels Sprouts Ingredients: Olive or Avocado oil 1 Lb Brussels Sprouts 1 Yellow Onion 3-4 Garlic cloves 1/4 Cup Water Directions: In a covered skillet, apply just enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Depending on the size of your pan you might use one or two tablespoons of oil. Slice the Brussels Sprouts in half along their length. Lay the sliced sprouts flat side down on the oil. Rough dice a yellow onion. Spread it over the sprouts. Peel and press the garlic on top of the sprouts and onions. Add salt and pepper to taste. Apply medium heat and saute until the bottom of the sprouts turn golden brown. About five minutes. Don’t over do it. Add the water and secure a tight fitting lid. Turn the heat to low. Do not remove the cover. In about five minutes check to see if the sprouts are tender. Do not over cook. Remove from the heat, remove the lid, and stir to distribute the garlic and onions. Spread them out in a layer on the bottom of the pan to cool. Enjoy.
