You don't ever have to apologize for not posting if you are busy or overwhelmed! Life happens, and this isn't your full time job or the highest priority in your life. I am struggling with finding balance in my life, and I know it's not easy to do. Do what's best for you! Thanks for the honesty!

Yeah you're back!!! I laugh and TOTALLY get the end of the day chaos. My desk is a disaster right now. I'm pretty sure it's a fire hazard and my sanity is buried under it all.

My favorite teacher vlogger! 😍 Could you maybe do a video or explain the pros and cons of third grade? I’m a first year teacher and they put me in 7th grade however, now I have the option to transfer to 3rd grade next year and I’ve only had experience with 2nd and 7th! I really think I would love 3rd because I loved 2nd but I’m hoping to get your honest opinion of the pros and cons! If you can, please help a girl out! Lol

I can't stop staring a the lime green pops of color in your room. Like, I know i've seen it before (obviously) in your other vlogs lol but every time I see it, it just looks so ascetically pleasing with the aqua and wood colored paper. 😍😍

First and foremost I'm so glad to see you back! Just found out this week my dad has cancer, so to come on youtube and see one of my favs makes my day. Second, dont feel a creative slump, for me personally I love your day in the life, decorating/organizing and the morning meeting videos. And I have to ask, what's your honest opinion in common core math, compared to the way we were taught?

The fraction bracelet is such a fun idea! I think I will do something like that with my fourth and fifth graders.

+Early EDventures Mrs. Shelley , I am so glad that you are back . I will say that I don't know about the students grading their own papers because it can become stressful on the students for the fact that when they show their work to their parents their parents could start growing suspicions if those grades came from you the teacher or themselves and it is walking on the thin line of a law because there is a law about what you are putting out there so let's make sure that you will not be getting yourself or any other teacher or teacher in the making in legal trouble and make sure that it is also ok with the parents of your students before you do this . Sometimes doing the right thing is not the easiest thing to do but you get more glory in the end from doing the right thing . Hang in there and I cannot wait to hear and see much more from you . - Dwight

Thanks for doing these vlogs! I really appreciate them! Yes on that behavior log.... Also I teach comparing fractions of course with visual aids and pictures but then I show them cross multiplying ... that's seems to be the easiest strategy for even my weakest students. Again they need to understand the concepts - I usually tell them I gain a lot of weight during fractions, as I always am looking for the biggest peice.

I just finished the Magic of Math fraction unit. I also added in the butterfly method for comparing fractions. Old school, but it was my kids favorite method. 😊 did your students have luck with the drawing it out with the rectangle method they use in Magic of Math? Mine not so much... but I don’t know if it’s just how I’m teaching it. I think motor skill wise, it was too advanced for them.

Hey! With the fraction unit that you purchased, are you the only teacher on your grade that uses that unit and the other teachers use the other one that you think is boring? Are you allowed to use different units as long as the unit covers the same concepts as the original unit? I'm a pre-service teacher in Australia and I noticed during my prac that all of the grade teachers used the same programs which resulted in using the same resources. I'm assuming this was to have consistency across the whole grade, but I'm not sure whether they are allowed to use their own units. Thanks! :)

I’m not sure if you can say...but I’m wondering who came to your school to talk about trauma. I’m a first grade teacher in Indiana and we had someone come to our school a few times to talk about trauma in the brain and she was sooo good! I wonder if it’s the same person. She mentioned she traveled the country.
