New viewer here. It's fascinating for me, a home baker, to watch a commercial bakery. In addition, I'm intrigued by your daily routine and the apparent peacefulness of your life. It's completely foreign to me; when I turned 21, I was a combat veteran, married 2 years and about to be a father. Now, 50 years later, I still marvel at people like you. Wonderful video! Thanks

hello, thanks for your message, well my advice would be go for the things that are hard, for example, I always try to finish things that are the most difficult or most annoying so then I have my peace to work on other things. I find your situation similar - maybe you need to face it one more or time and say 'my fear is not stronger than me', once you over it - pufff, easy. On another hand, maybe your way is your own business where are your own boss so you would avoid that stress. The only way is trying I think. Whatever you do, try to enjoy! Life is too short💫 all the best!

It is so curious to see the differences according to the country. For instance, in my country Colombia, chefs, bakers and all the people that work with food must wear something to cover their hair being a woman or a man. This is to avoid the hair fall and be mixed with the food. I see in your videos that none of the bakers wear that. Interesting.
@KrisKazlauskaite3 жыл бұрын
hey, thanks for your comment, that is actually true. I have worked in different places and every place apply different rules. As you said, in one place I had to wear hair net etc. Men had to wear hair net for their beard too. Now, I wear hair bandana and i tie my hair very well so you wont see any loose hair. But generally in London is ok if you tie your hair, make yourself presentable. We don't really get cases of hair in your food. But again, as I said, depends on the place, the most important is to keep your customer happy :) thank you for your comment🙏🏻

I just started my baker apprenticeship and damn it feels so hard to keep up both physically and mentally. Everything seems so rushed and hectic and my brain has a hard time remembering everything :O Do you have any suggestion for unexperienced bakers like me?
@Pvm_enthuasist3 жыл бұрын
In 6 months to a year it'll feel like second nature, that's usually the case with most jobs. One thing that a head baker taught me which sounds simple is to double, triple and quadruple check off every ingredient is in the mixer before pressing start, mixing 60kg of dough and forgetting salt is a nightmare. Whenever I press the start button my brain is automatically checking off the recipe because once ingredients are incorporated you won't be able to tell if you've added something. Another tip is to use one bowl/bucket for liquids and another bowl/bucket for dry ingredients, don't use 10 different bowls to scale 10 ingredients unless a recipe needs to be done in stages, the kitchen porter will hate you. Clean as you go and use minimal amount of bowls needed.
@KrisKazlauskaite3 жыл бұрын
I think the best thing to do is to learn how to do things properly, then confidence and speed comes automatically. Don't worry if you are not fast at the beginning, most important you do the right thing. I know many examples where they do fast job but then someone needs to sort out their mess. So take seniors advices and stick to the person who is experienced and teach you a right thing. Because sometimes if you learn from "bad" people you carry it for a long time. Plus i recommend you meditation, because with calm mind you can do whatever you want in life! All the best!
@arka2673 жыл бұрын
@Kris Kazlauskaite thanks a lot :) really good and wise advices. I've already considered meditating ( I've already done it in the past and it helped a lot with my daily activities, it kept me a lot more focused - I did mostly mindfulness meditation - ). I'm trying to learn as much as possible from my supervisor who is for sure a good baker, yet at the same time he's the main person who keeps forcing me to go as fast as possible and screaming every time I make mistakes which leads me to being super nervous while I'm working with him which makes me easely make more mistakes... 😅 Fortunately a couple of days ago I started feeling way more comfortable with everything, from where to find things, to anticipating what's the next activity I have to do etc... So I guess it took me a good month to start to feel a bit comfortable, I guess I'm slow at learning ( they keep telling me other people are usually faster at it ) yet I'm not worried about it and I try to do my best every day :)
@arka2673 жыл бұрын
@@Pvm_enthuasist Yeah one thing I'm trying to get better at is being as efficient as possible so that I have to make as less steps as possible and waste as less time as possible. It's not that easy and many times I notice that I could do things in a more efficient way but I guess that already being aware of it is a step in the right direction :)
@KrisKazlauskaite3 жыл бұрын
@@arka267 exactly! 💡you need to get comfortable and then you will fly, I promise!! You see-you already improved! Slowly but steady, however time needs to improve, there is always so much to do in the kitchen!😀 I personally always feel responsible to be a good teammate so other don’t do extra job because of me. Having said that, team has to understand that you are new and you need time to get used to the routine, that’s how it works. 👍

Suggestion and forgive me, regarding the Spanish language I suggest you place self-adhesive stickers throughout your house identifying or naming it in writing in Spanish. Mixer example, so every time you see it and read it daily, your brain and linguistic chip will record it and without realizing it you will speak and think in Spanish. I am doing it anyway but with English. bye

Hi, thank you for your suggestions, thats so cool! To be honest i have tried this method already and it works🙌🏼 but once i am in Spanish speaking environment it will help dramatically ☺️☺️ thank you!

@@KrisKazlauskaite I'm really happy with your enthusiasm and physical and mental strength, since the bakery job is physically and mentally exhausting, I tell you this from my own experience. Many hours standing, body receiving visitors cold and hot temperatures shocks, as well as excessive use of the body in outdoor positions, which as we say on these sides are killers. Just my respects to you.
