I can relate to the sentiment of not taking KZbin and social media seriously. When I graduated college in 2015 I thought going the studio route would be safer but now with all the layoffs from corporate greed and job instability I regret not considering the independent artist route

Yeah too true! You never know what the future can hold so keeping an open mind is always a good thing!

Honestly the best route is trying to pursue both independent and studio animation by adding assets from personal projects to your portfolio. I’m starting to do that now but wish I did it years ago 😅

@@Artofcarissathanks for sharing! I graduated uni recently and I am deciding to start both routes tbh. I feel like making a name for yourself might attract recruiters and money as well 🥹

Such a beautiful, honest, and well-made video. I've been following you since your CalArts day and as current senior at CalArts in Character Animation I can't thank you enough for your transparency throughout all of your videos. It's helped me to think of creative ways to thrive as an artist and be in the animation world through more of a sober yet hopeful lense. Keep creating! Despite the cons with finances, instability, etc., you undoubtedly pursue and do things a lot of people don't and that's influence. You're an amazing influence on those around you and sometimes it can be so much more rewarding. Thank you for impacting me and those around you-those moments can't be changed and they last for longer than a lifetime

No Michelle, don't think like that. At least for me the main reason I am gravitated towards failure stories is that I relate so much and would like to know how people with much more success than me cope with that

Beautifully said! I agree completely, stability is our inner peace and not what we currently have. Thank you!

you've been giving me a LOT to think about lately with these vids lol 😫 i'm nearing the end of my time in college & i'm still not 100% set on what path to pursue, between the distance & instability of the industry & my desire to see where youtube can go despite its own hang ups...

The honesty is genuinely refreshing to hear! With AI and all these major studios doing cuts, it's been difficult even trying to get my foot in the door as a new anim grad. The industry being in such a huge dryspell atm is really making me look at all the other possible options which is kinda disheartening tbh :(( Am currently trying to use social media as much as I can to at least make some sort of income with my degree instead of having to fallback on retail or fast-food jobs 😔
@mewTripled4 ай бұрын
Yeah it can be discouraging out there but hopefully reminding people that there are other options out there in spite of all that helps! Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!

this sounds silly but every time i watch one of your videos, i burst into tears. idk if it's the sense of authenticity with every post or if it's your determination to better yourself and your craft but whatever it is - it's genuinely motivated me to start pushing myself and develop areas i was too scared to before. tytyty for all ya post

I really enjoy the "Day in the Life" format! Maybe it's because I started watching in 2020, but I appreciate the more laid-back, check in with me sort of videos. I'm curious to see what you have in mind for future videos!
@mewTripled4 ай бұрын
Thank you I'm glad! I think it's also because I've started to think about how to format the vlogs a bit more intentionally... like sure I will show what I do in a day but what point to make / message with the video :) Before vlogs didn't do too well, but I think I found a happy medium between informative and showcasing-y! Thank you so much for watching! !!!

Such an insightful video today. I'm defently gonna try and take both youtube and insta posts more seriously as i can this year. As a growing artist/solo learning gamedev. As best as i can be. This video motivated me to try and have a nice soft reboot of my channel again this year sharecasing my progress when i make them thanks. :)

Not fully related but I can relate in a sense that my current 9-5 has recently become financially unstable. I don't have family in the US anymore (which used to be my "if all else fails" safety net) or a partner or friends close enough that can back me up, so I'm actually in a very anxious and fearful stat (with a lease and cats to pay for at the very least.) It's so weird that your video came up when it did. It's helping me calm down. Thank you.
