I also wrote an “All American” spec in 2019. I truly love that my spec mimics a few of the storylines used in season 2 and 3. It’s confirmation that I’m on the right path.

Congratulations, Erica! Do that Writer Hustle! ;-) Many "writers" starting out here in LA, don't seem to appreciate how much you gain from reading scripts. I was looking for a script, and completely forgot about the WGA library! Best!

open to the public with reservation. You just have to go on the website, complete the free rsvp form and schedule the time you want to come in. They confirm and you go.. easy peasy! Have a great time!

Hi Erica, I’m really glad that you posted this video. I did not know that you are a screenwriter!(lol).I plan to go into that career field full time in the future, (I’m a senior in college, pursing English: creative writing track) Do I need to major in screen writing in order to become a screen writer?? I’m currently looking for paid internships in that field for this summer on Linked In (I also graduate that time also 😊). I’m so glad this came up on my search results lol, (this was very insightful and helpful) From one writer to another, I wish you a lot of success and blessings in your career!💯✨ (P.S I’m an All American fan as well!😍💕🔥)

chileeeee I am so sorry it took me so long to reply to this comment.. idk how I missed it... (I be moving too fast).. yeah I'm a filmmaker (screenwriter, director, producer and actor)... Thanks for the well wishes! I am sending them right back to you! To answer your question. No you don't have to major in screenwriting. I feel like the best people to writer stories are those that live and observe great stories.. that is going to give you more towards your storytelling journey than a technical degree will.. now if you want to major in it go for it but its not a requirement. My masters degree is in Biology. The best way to grow as a screenwriter is to read and write scripts consistently. You got this! I will be releasing more how to content so I hope that helps as well and ask me questions when you have them. Love, E

Did you go to a film school? My dream would be to work as a screenwriter or a director but I don’t know what to do for it
@EricaVain
@EricaVain 3 жыл бұрын
I did not go to film school.. You can literally start with where you are with anything.. I started my first script years ago in Evernote.. I didn’t even know about the official screenwriting software or formats at the time... you can learn anything you want to and the information is out there you just gotta look.. I will answer any questions I can... I would first say decide if you want to be one or the other or both because your path will change slightly based on that decision. If you wanna start writing start by writing your story or another story you know well.. get it out and then go back and apply correct format to it.. there are tons of books and websites to learn proper screenwriting formatting and structure... as far as directing start directing.. you got an iPhone you can start directing and dping visuals now.. you got this!!!!

@@EricaVain I’m about to graduate from college CSUSB with a bachelors in philosophy. But for the last two years, I’ve been thinking/wanting to writing a script, direct it, and probably star in it too since I’ve lived movies since I was like 8 years old . Still trying to develop the story and all. From the interviews I’ve seen of Oscar winning Directors, you don’t have to go to film school, to make a movie. You just need to get into the creative process. Anybody can make a movie, you just have to start. Great video by the way.

read a feature screenplay per week. read a couple popular writing books and also live a lot. its hard to write when you dont have anything to say. you dont need school. when you develop your voice, attend some writing classes and form writing groups wiht some students. meet up and breakdown each others scripts. screenwriting is about exploring what excites your imagination and about constantly writing or breaking story. you develop the skills buy actually doing. Dont be like everyone else and just talk about it. do it every day.

I really loved your video i'm 15 I want to do screen writing i've been practicing my skills snice the 5th grade with poerty as i got in my teen i've ben inspired to write dark psychology stories by reading Dan brown books and watching a lot of psychology themed movie's that ppl mostly calls them horror movie, i analysis character's emotions ,behaviors thoughts and actions which in my playwrite i want to make sure that my character's can connect with the reader/audience in a emotional way and creating an illusion as if they are in the play experiencing the characters life situations, i have a fear that i won't make it in the film industry mainly on being a black girl who is doing dark psychology playwright's that i won't fit because ppl don't acknowledge black people trying new things.
