A Day in the Life of SCP-049

SCP 049 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Plague Doctor.
SCP-049 is a humanoid entity, roughly 1.9 meters in height, which bears the appearance of a medieval plague doctor.
SCP049 will become hostile with individuals it sees as being affected by the Pestilence, often having to be restrained should it encounter such. If left unchecked, SCP-049 will generally attempt to kill any such individual.

Honestly, I think SCP-049 should be allowed to animate corpses in a controlled environment, where his work can be supervised to ensure it's done safely. It's heavily implied that "The Pestilence" is death itself, reviving the dead _is_ his cure, and that the whole zombie thing is actually a flaw in the cure that he's trying to work out. I believe it would be in everyone's best interest that he be allowed to perfect his cure as quickly as possible.

nah its not death this theory has long been debunked, still not confirmed source of what he is curing but based on all his interaction with foundation and D class what he deems as someone carrying the pestilence is some one who challenges the natural order of things and is defiant in every conversation he has with subjects as he calls them it ends with o49 becoming violent cause his subject is challenging his methodology and his skills, doubting his cure is even a cure at all. so based on my observations it seems what he is really trying to cure living subjects of is their nature and ability to be afraid of the unknown.

The sad part is the plague doctor genuinely seems to have good intentions and trying to help those around him, ofc the foundation’s reason for keeping him contained is reasonable since it takes a touch to kill the people around him and how he is too set on “curing people” to let others interfere with his work. My question is, if it’s his touch that the foundation fears, couldn’t they lock some gloves on his hands to prevent him from killing during his time outside?

I feel bad for the plague doctor. I think the pestilence he seeks to cure is death itself. Has anyone made a concerted effort to really understand what the pestilence is to him? Since, if his end goal is to cure death, but the hang-ups are the fact that he ends up with brainless zombies instead of properly sapient beings, then I would really like to see him keep working so long as he vows not to use the zombies to damage or break containment.

he starts his day bright and early, sometimes he likes to sleep in and dream about creating a new universe but instead he will settle for playing the sims 4 with all the expansion packs. he then spends about 5 hours creating and furnishing a world and trolling people who ask if god is omnipotent, can he create a rock so heavy that he cannot lift it buy replying in ancient satanic summoning rituals, to make small tiny demons emerge randomly and tickle peoples feet untill they fall off their chair. he then decides tp remake the fabric of the universe and (redacted) meaning of (redacted), the age old question that is answered by (redacted). with all this (redacted) suddenly solved, all the scientists go and try to solve the question about that one weird scp that summons feet tickling demons. (or so ive heard, ask 343 yourself)

There is a theory which also concerns scp 5000 and 682, where supposedly humans are not supposed to ferl pain, but due to an entity which lives in all of us sort of like voldemort did in harry, we do feel it, and it lives off of it. The worst part is that when we die, we are sent to a place where we feel even more pain and the creature grows ever more powerful. 682 know this and its the reason for which it finds humans disgusting, and it is theorised that the entity is also "the pestilence" and for now the best thing 049 can do is to kill the victim and revive it without a thinking brain so that the entity is no longer in them

It would be interesting to be a watcher/companion to 049. A safe side chamber with a desk and comfortable chair. I'm fairly certain once he became used to the constant companion he would be amenable to answering questions occasionally. Especially if the companion was not a doctor and the questions came across as someone wishing to be taught. At the very least Doc would have a guest to eat with.

049 is actually one of my favorite SCPs. Just because he is not necessarily an evil creature. He is a sincere doctor and scientist, trying to find a cure for a dangerous illnesses (which nobody else knows about). But it's his methods and means to finding the cure that make him dangerous. He doesn't mean harm, but causes it anyway.

Can I just say. Scp 049 deserves better. Such a good natured and well mannered man. He’s just trying to help people, and while volitile sometimes. It’s not his fault. I would be honored to be cured if I had the pestilence. For an organization that claims to be “cold not cruel” they seem unreasonably disturbed by sacrifice for the greater good. The more I learn about 049 the more I start to agree with 682 about the foundation being evil
