@@lj8952 FedEx doesn't pay that well. An average truck driver salary for FedEx (though this may be for the smaller delivery trucks) is about $40K or so, depending on your area of the country. That's not rich. The average pay rate in the US as a whole is about $24+ an hour and that's the national average.

Showers are at truck stops and usually free with a fuel up before i got sick i was a female solo driver i also had a portable camping toilet in my truck a coffee pot several other appliances and a cat it’s only hard if you let it be

I started driving 22 years ago and took my Doberman Pinscher everywhere with me. I ran a flatbed from the Southeast (Alabama) to the Midwest. Two runs to mostly Ohio every week. I took lumber up north and brought steel back down south. Keep on trucking! You rock🙂

Straight up. Did in for 4 years straight, stayed out 6-8 weeks, had 7 days off then back at it. Now I'm local, tons of experience and will never do OTR unless I have literally no other choice. In the end I can say that OTR allowed me to make a decent living but it still sucked ass.

I’m a driver and I own and run my company, got my son into it he became a dispatcher bought him a truck and he’s growing and I’m growing, I do 2-3 trips a month I’m trying to buy a truck to run logbook manual, I think it’s ok.

Hehe. At 21 I moved from Mama's house to rent with my brother in town. At 22 I got my CDL and logged ~60K miles in 6 months driving the usual OTR routes. At 23 I quit driving, moved back to Mama's, and returned to my previous job. A sellout? Nah. Life is better here. Easier if I'm lazy, lasting effects if I'm not. If you've got a family, stick with 'em. Buy a motorcycle if you want adventure, but stay away from trucks.

I work at a cement plant and we ship cement when I’m in the scale house I have to be very assertive and aggressive with the men especially creepy ones. Just gotta keep an eye on them and don’t turn your back.

Lol this had nothing to do with the guys being dramatic, the question was about her safety. I’m assuming you’re a male and work with women. Do you get scared for your life or scared that you are gonna be raped by this stranger that you are alone with? That’s what I was talking about. When I’m dealing with the truckers I’m underneath a silo with one door in and out and they stand right in front of that door while I’m behind a small half counter. I’ve had to get a baseball bat and threaten to hurt them because they wouldn’t leave me alone. This has nothing to do with sexist stereotypes. This has to do with the fact that there are truckers who would rape women and how I try to stay safe from them at my work.
