Down at the end of the Richardson highway traversing Alaska from North to South there's a small port town of Valdez, a home to about 4,000 people. I spent a day there shooting some views at the marina and above. I left all the video sounds intact so you will get to know Valdez a little better.
Valdez felt unique, being so remote and far from major roads and towns, as it took pretty much the whole day to drive down there from Glennallen, the nearest town, with all the picture stops, of course. Thanks for watching and enjoy!

Valdez is my hometown and while I'm at college I miss it dearly. This video makes me feel like I'm back at home in my town.

I was in Valdez only for a day and I also miss it dearly. Incredible place, what a reward after that drive from Glennallen.

One of the best places I’ve ever visited!! Mid summer is amazing! Great seafood, of course the salmon is amazing, you can purchase Halibut as well, shrimp ect. The wildlife, otters hanging by the docks, bears catching salmon, eagles flying. The mountains surround you and during the summer the waterfalls begin. Even the drive from delta junction is absolutely gorgeous with plenty of spots to catch salmon. Really I cannot wait to visit again.

Agree especially with the drive! It goes through the mountain passes and it must be one of the most scenic drives in the whole United States.

My favorite part about my trip to Valdez was boarding glacier spirit and staying there for 7 hours. I never realized there were restaurants in the boat and the "detour" the captain did made Valdez look even better. It's a shame I am not coming back here ever again since I'm moving from Alaska in a month, but ya know, I'm going on vacation a week later and a week later again so yea

Hi ProGamer, thanks for sharing. Valdez is a semi-hidden gem, it is located kind of off ways so it takes an effort to even get there. But once you are, the town and the area are very rewarding.

Went there twice and would just go a third time or stay forever seriously. The town, the people. Its just great.

Completely agree! One issue may be the remoteness but I understand all the infrastructure is there, Amazon Prime delivers, so should be good enough :)

Moving to Valdez this winter for the military! Texas boy so it’s gonna be a change but I’m excited!

Hey Ryan, congrats on the move, even though Texas won't let you that easily haha. Get a car and drive the road between Valdez and Glennallen, it is insanely beautiful in all seasons.

Valdez islands belonged to México, so the name is a Spanish last name. It was when Mexico was the Viceroyalty of New Spain and the ship between Mexico and Philipines came back twice a year it stopped overthere. The same to the next Bucareli island

Your Alaska videos are so breathtaking ☺️Going to Alaska this fall for a trip. I see mostly fall colors in your videos. Which time of the month did you visit Alaska ? Your work is so professional .
2 жыл бұрын
Most of the videos were shot in mid to late September, that's when the foliage colors truly kick in. The logistical challenge is that mid September is the end of the travel season in Alaska, some hotels either downsize or close, weather may become a bit chilly or unpredictable. Not a huge problem, but just be aware. I appreciate the compliments, it means a lot that you like my little hobby. The best of luck with your trip this fall!

Good luck with your plans! If travel industry continues recovering the way it is, Valdez and many other places in Alaska will see a lot of new jobs. It is a great place to move to.

When I was driving to Valdez, I didn't think of it as a trip to Valdez, it was more of enjoying the scenery along the way. So you're absolutely right.

Going to Valdez in a couple weeks for Salmon season , silverbay seafoods , never been out of California or on a plane so a little nervous , any tips or advice?
3 жыл бұрын
Planes are one of the safest modes of transportation so there's not much to worry about. My tip these days is - take a large bottle of water or two and drink often, this will allow you to take off the mask temporarily and breathe deeply. If you are worrying on a plane or a panic is coming, take deep breaths for 5 - 10 minutes and you'll see how you calm down. I know a girl who had an airplane anxiety so her doctor prescribed her something but that is extreme. Always keep in mind what great reward you'll get in the end! Alaska is a great reason to fly your first flight. Silver Bay Seafoods are a state of the art company and they'll take great care of you. The best of luck with your trip, Jay!

I live in Homer Alaska and I am thinking of moving to Valdez, it looks much nicer than here.

Homer is very nice also. Valdez seems more remote and secluded. Drive to Valdez also seems nicer, not to offend residents of Kenai peninsula though :)

Going there in two weeks for a seven day work trip. Got any recommendations for food/activities?
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jacob! The town is pretty small and all the activities are around the harbor, all good restaurants are in the town center which is the same area, too. I only spent a day in Valdez (btw luckly you to be there for the whole 7 days) and I usually hit a seafood place for the catch of the day, "Mike's Palace" was great in that regard, highly recommended. If you have a car, go to Valdez Gracier Lake about 10 miles from town center, it is a stunning place. Enjoy your time!
