This was wonderful! It’s so amazing to see a city that most of us, unfortunately won’t get to see in our lifetime. But to see it through your eyes is amazing. It isn’t a travel channel or a history channel or an art channel. It’s through the eyes of someone who loves the adventure of a new place, who wants to share their adventures and their new knowledge. This has been such a pleasure, and a privilege to see this beautiful city through your eyes. Thank you. ❤

Re Saint Charles Borromeo: Many people actually have heard of him, they just don't realize it. Most people call it "Mission Carmel" near Monterrey, CA. But, it is actually Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Rio Carmelo, but it is indeed the same 16th century bishop of Milan being honored [who went by "Carlo" because he was "Italian", Carlos being the Spanish and Charles being the German/English versions]. This was the favorite mission of Fra. Junipero Serra, the founder of the CA missions [for Spain], and he died at Carmel, they still have his bed!

Yes. if one isn't raised Catholic (or even Episcopal/Anglican) they often don't realize that Catholic churches are named after the most popular saints all over the world. p.s I think 'Karl' is the more common (or at least older) German form for 'Charles'. It's my husband's name (Charles not Karl that is, because after WW I & WW II German names became less popular~ although Germans were once the most common ethnic group in the mid-west U.S.)... it means "Free Man", and his last name means "Bird Man" (Vogler) in Swiss... or German. ~Tara (kindlydude's wife)

Yes, I was in Austria, as well as Greece. Italy, France, Spain, Holland (Netherlands), The British Isles, etc. also in the 70's as a child. My mother wanted to see where the Sound of Music was filmed. All I can remember is walking endlessly in the mountains and outside in gardens. I think my parents left me in the hotel in the evenings with my little brother so they could go to the concerts at night!

Vienna is one of my favourite cities of the world; we celebrated New Year’s Eve there in front of the spectacular City Hall where the Viennese Ball was in full swing. The streets were hung with enormous twinkling lit chandeliers and everyone was in a festive mood. The Christmas Market and skating was happening in the city square among the trees below and hot Glüwein was flowing freely. Just before midnight, the ballroom guests came out on the upper floor of the city hall in their poufy dresses and ballroom finery to watch the fireworks and the orchestra outside struck up the Viennese Walz which we all started dancing to with strangers young and old. It was magnificent! Stephanie’s tour brought back so many great memories! ❤️

I bought the largest version of a print of Bruegel’s “Hunters In the Snow when I was at the Kunsthistorisches Museum some 30+ years ago, and it’s behind my head as I watch this. On a hot day, the winter scenery is great. It always tickles me how Bruegel fit the alps into so many of his paintings after his first trip over them on his way to Italy. And I love how the kids on the ice are playing the same games that I and my friends did on frozen lakes when I was a kid. Some things never change! ♥️ Thanks for the tour! I didn’t know such auction houses were open to the public. Definitely putting that on my list if I make it back to Vienna. Next time you go to Vienna, I have two recommendations for you. The museum of interior design is seriously amazing, and so well set up, showing how design evolved, not to mention the jaw-dropping pieces. The architecture of the Postsparkasse is great, and at least when we went, totally free! They have (or had) the same furniture, etc. designed to go with the building. The effect of having a single design vision is lovely, and it’s a quick side trip on your way somewhere else. I was lucky enough to be able stay for a week, at the apartment of a friend of a friend, so we saw tons more too. The memories are still fresh, all these years later. Like the “tower of Babel” evening at a sidewalk cafe, where everyone spoke at least two languages, but there wasn’t a single shared language among us. It’s always easier to understand than speak when a language is rusty, so there were several conversations where two people were speaking two different languages to each other. Then someone who could only understand half of the conversation would beg for assistance, and so another person would chime in with a third, in simultaneous translation. 🤣

Beautiful video! Thank you for sharing. My mom loved Sissi. She passed away in August. I am so glad that I to buy a star in her honor.

I enjoyed this episode - since I was at the same hotel and we also visited the same church (and enjoyed a great concert there). This was one of the last trips abroad I took my dear mum on in 2016. She passed away in Norway last year. So, this brought back such fond memories - so I had to dig out the photographs I had stored on my computer to reminisce the great trip we had together to Vienna.

I have the ' Pieta' statue an X large one, in my Living room, it is here where I can see it in my living room, as I sit right now. My husband purchased it for me when he was in Italy while in the Navy. I have always treasured it, and the whole meaning of it. This all was exquisite Stephanie and feel so happy every time I see your Aunt and Uncle, they are the kind of people you can just relax with and enjoy your day! Loved this opportunity to travel along with you in Vienna! 'Chair side' traveling, at its best! lol You certainly ae wonderful with your historical knowledge and the way you explain it all. So elegantly stated! The church is so 'Heavenly!' It is like stepping out of this world, and into 'heavenly bliss' for a time! Thank you so much for including us all! Sending much love, to you all

Oh wow! What a video. I could watch this all day long and forever! So much to see and enjoy. I love history and all things cultured and this had it all! In abundance. You are so good at this type of work Stephanie and Phillip. All the wonderful things in the Kunthistorisches Museum, the Auction house and the amazing baroque church of St Charles Boromeo. I too, had never heard of him before, but I do now, so thank you both for this wonderland of all things truly special. I also love Bruegel with his talent for hiding the real reason for his painting in amongst the grandeur of landscapes and everyday life. That pudding looked just as beautiful as the church. 🥰

Thank you for showing us Vienna. The buildings are just beautiful. They couldn’t even build that today just to detail alone. I hope you guys had a wonderful time.

Wow, that's tge most beautiful church I've ever seen. So uniquely exquisite! Thank you for researching and sharing with us. You have a symbiotic relationship with your viewers. We may make it possible for you to travel and see these places perhaps, but in turn you allow is to see what most of us never would experience without you. The best tour guide ever!❤

Absolutely - I'm in awe of the work you have put in to make this masterpiece - weaving in the threads to and from Lalande. But also I'm in awe of your command of the delightful details of so many things - the Emperor's Nonsense! The fashions, the art, the architecture, the history.. Congratulations on this masterful work 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🥂

Such a wonderful video. How on earth do you manage to edit and upload whilst out enjoying yourselves? I love to see Aunt Chantal & Uncle Stephen living such a wonderful life. They make such a perfect couple. Stephanie may be their niece but she is also like the daughter they haven't got. I always see so much love between them all, and Amaury. I hope one day to see their other son on The Chateau Diaries.
