How do I find the words to thank you? I am not a patron, though I wish I could be. I am a retired single Memere living on a VERY tight budget Stephanie. YOU make it possible for me to see the places I’ve wanted to visit ALL my life. Your guidance instructs and informs me allowing a deeper appreciation for everything you have filmed. The graciousness of your Aunt and Uncle make sharing it all such a joy. I share Phillips excitement about porcelain and table settings. I LOVE to see him enjoying it SO MUCH! Bless you Stephanie and THANK YOU DEAR.

OMG, Stephanie, I was nearly in tears at "good night." The bond between you and Chantel is really beautiful. I'm always cheered when I see her and your Uncle Steve. What must Amaury's brother be like? Do they realize they have fans? I'm still thrilled to see the little bits we're thrown of Amaury. I get it though, he signed on to be an artisan, not a social media star or influencer. A bodhisattva told me once that the universe gives us a finite amount of good fortune, and not to waste it. That's what she told me. ❤ from TX!

As a person born in Vienna I can only add that although we may go to Sacher for Wiener wurste as a fun nostalgic occasion (although we can get them at every wurstel stand) we would never order a piece of Sacher Torte. That is for tourists that do not understand that the slice of cake is too large and is dry. We walk around the corner to the store on Kartnerstrasse and buy the Sacher wurfeln. That is what we eat and gift. Of my entire family and friends in Austria only one likes the Imperial Torte because he loves marzipan.

Dear Stephanie and Philip, thank you for taking us along on another excellent adventure! I just love that you both delve into the history of all things beautiful. The China and dress pattern remind me of ikat weaving which was brought to Europe by the Dutch East India Company, Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie from their Indonesian trading posts during the Dutch golden age in the 17th century. As you know, once England invented the very sleek and vast tea clippers the Dutch global power declined. Then England became the super power with trading posts all over Asia. And again foreign textiles became all the rage. This time India’s chintzes and Kashmir shawls. As for spy clue words, so fascinating that all three countries chose the squirrel! But as Philip knows, the Dutch chose a word of the most difficult pronunciation: Scheveningen. If you are not a native you fail miserably. Aside from that, I am glad to be back. The past two years were very difficult. For a long time I was seriously ill. My family was and is absolutely wonderful! The Château Diaries etc. are and were so important to bring joy and diversion. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Having been an early donor, your ever expanding success in bringing the chateau back to its former glory is such a delight! Looking forward to many more of your excellent adventures ❤

What an advert for Vienna! That was a real treat Stephanie and Phillip. Reminds me of the videos you did years ago on Limoges, which was a masterclass. No wonder Phillip likes to visit places like this, the quality of the porcelain is outstanding. I loved the little ladybirds on top of the fuzzy porcelain and that ice cream jar was just stunning. The history contained in places like this museum is so interesting. Sadly, it shows just how mundane our crockery is these days. I have some proper porcelain, but dare not use it, so it sits in the cupboard. I discovered Sachertorte in East Berlin in 1980. OMG I have never forgotten it, but the ones we find in the UK, or can make, just do not match the unbelievable taste of the real thing. I have never had the Imperial torte, so it is on my bucket list for sure! Thank you Stephanie for yet another classic video of beautiful objects and history.😊😊😊

Stephanie you share with us the most interesting things and I love the snippets of history you throw in. Always fascinating. As a Viennese I have to admit, that "Sacher`s" Sachertorte is overhyped . The original Sachertorte had been developed at "Cafe Demel" where the young Mister Sacher took his apprenticeship long before he started his hotel. Demel still produces the original and much better version of the "Sachertorte".

In British English at least, wheat is a type of corn. Stephanie is therefore perfectly right (who'd've guessed!). Don't be afraid of dictionaries: they're your friends. Of course, you were so persuaded of knowing better (ignorants usually are, as they're typically ignorant of their own ignorance) than an obviously very educated woman that you couldn't wait to correct her instead of checking if, maybe, you could've been the one in need of learning something.
