You just earned another subscriber here :-) Lighting is a lifelong interest of mine, I started to be obsessed with lamps at the tender age of 3. During the years I collected literally hundreds of lamps, dozens of ballasts and fluorescent fixtures and even a handful of street lights and HID fixtures of various types, and I still have all of them. One of the street lamps is actually being employed at lighting my studio and it's turned on behind my back as I'm writing this comment. It's a small Siemens SiStellar running a single 80W Osram mercury vapour bulb. There are a couple of lighting-related videos on my channel, even if its topic is music and synthesizers.

That fixture at 8:10 is perfect! So sad to see it being replaced. I don't know... Long fixtures seems to fit better, just like the tubular ones

🤨 ~ so the street lights appear to be permanently on, without timer/photocell to switch them off?
@thelamppostchannel7 ай бұрын
I can switch them on at daytime so thats why most are on during the video

@@thelamppostchannel ~ as there is “no” photocell on top of the lantern, are they all switched with a timer?

I wonder if they will use LED lamps in your way, including the retrofit SOX lamp, since they don't make normal SOX lamps. Nice repairs
@thelamppostchannel7 ай бұрын
At times they do but those retrofit lamps don't last long at all, so most have been replaced to LED lanterns instead of LED bulbs

You could have put one of the old tubes that still work back in the first fixture.

And then it breaks a week later... It's not worth it. If you repair or replace a lamp you always put in a new bulb.
@JamMC7 ай бұрын
@@Ni5ei I don’t think it would break a week later, It can be there as a temporary lamp until they have a new one to replace it.
@JamMC7 ай бұрын
@@Ni5ei He would have put another one in if he still had new tubes.

There's still loads of new fluorescent tubes at work, so I didn't feel the need to reuse 5 year old tubes

Why don't you replace the starter in the fixture ? We can see that they are in bad shape

by the time they fail, the fixture will prob get replaced for an LED fixture.
