I worked as a Seasonal worker in Yosemite during college. Lived in a camp in a secluded corner of Curry Village known as 'the Terrace." When I was in college we used to work RenFair in the Fall. On Friday after class we'd load up my mom's old station wagon I was borrowing during RenFaire time. We'd drive to Pleasantville, TX, get to the camp grounds, set up camp, drink beer and sing songs around the campfire. We'd get up early to be at our positions and set up our games in time for the faire to start. After a very long day talking in our Renaissance accents we'd head back to the campground for more of the same. We'd take showers by water hose and not stay up nearly as late Sat night. Sunday we'd get up early enough to pack up camp, head to the fairground for another long day, then after the activities ended we'd begin the 2 hour drive back to campus. We did this for the entire 8 weeks of the RenFaire. We made $100 a weekend. This was from 1992 - 1994 (I didn't do it my Freshman year or my Senior year) these were amazing memories and shaped me in so many ways. The money was cash under the table so didn't affect grants and at the end of the season we got a big $500 bonus. Good times!

Porcupine Flats is my favorite, but you must exercise care because bears do come thru in the middle of the night--no food in tents, etc. We never saw them, just a bent grill and footprints! The walk to May Lake from White Wolf campground is beautiful! Meadow, woods, and even a backpack trail to Hetch Hetchy Reservoir on the other side. Just don't go down the switchback if it's rainy... A friend told the ranger how she feels 'spiritual' when she enters Yosemite & the ranger, without batting an eye answered; "thats how i feel when i go out of Yosemite"! LOL, its a madhouse at certain times.

My cousin worked there in 86. He got a massive stauner and a big grizzly came along and sooked it . Best summer ever he said.

I did the same in my early twenties, just do me a favor and make sure you purchase a firearm and keep it on you 24/7 when you’re out in the woods, two close friends of mine (both beautiful young girls like yourself) went missing in a park like that. lots of people have and there’s folks that have live in these places off grid for decades. Keep your safety front and center

Yep and during the hiring process they tell you to not have a gun lol

@@markvanderstelt8999 You can absolutely carry firearms in National Parks as long as you don't take them into any of the buildings.

Imagine how relaxing it would be if you weren’t recording everything. I remember the days when BEING in Yosemite was enough….

Exactly. That's why I love the comment sections, because people are so deluded about what filming, editing, and uploading is like.

I thought the same but couldn’t articulate it without sounding like a dick 😅. Seems like we’re in the minority of people who even notice. I can’t imagine waking up there and deciding to make a KZbin short. The “journaling”, the whimsical stretching and balancing on the tree…so performative it makes me cringe.

Seasonal worker for one summer in glacier national park. I got paid $8.50 per hour in 2018. Had to pay $200 a month rent for the cabin I shared with another guy. I was a shuttle driver so I drove people from the train station to the lodge and back. I had a schedule and hit all my stops much like a city bus driver. I worked from 4pm-1am daily and had like Tuesday Wednesday off I think. It was a fun summer but not a sustainable life for me personally. I worked for a company called “Xanterra” getting the job was easy af. They will set you up for winter season working as a ski resort and you can just go back and forth year after year like most of the older retired people / young people do.

I paddled my short board right past this point on this river , even rescued a little kid who lost his balance and started getting swept in what was a light July current, but he was just a little guy. Plucked him up on the board and grabbed the recirculating bank flow back to a very grateful Moma! 😎
