As someone who’s been interested in these old cameras and own a few myself what do you use to digitize your videos. I use a generic composite capture card and OBS and they always end up looking really bad. What are you doing?

I use a Sony DCR-TRV120 Digital8 camcorder for most of my archival workflow. The camcorder takes Composite/S-Video inputs and plays back analog Video8/Hi8, allowing analog video to be captured with FireWire. The video is then manually deinterlaced using QTGMC with AVISynth/VirtualDub, and the final product gets compressed with HandBrake.
