On September 21st, the last day of Summer, I would trek down to the Strasburg Rail Road for the Final time in 2024. This time, it was to film, the Iconic A Day Out With Thomas trips, featuring the BEDT 15, a 0-6-0 tank engine, which was modified to look like Thomas The Tank Engine. While there is many A Day Out with Thomas Events, the event at Strasburg has an operational Steam Locomotive Thomas. The last time I filmed the operational Thomas, was during Covid when they ran the entire Length of the Strasburg Rail Road. While this would continue until 2023, in 2024 they would only go as far as Groffs Grove. With it only running to Groffs I only needed one day of the event. Going for Angles I didn't get last time, and with the overcast in the morning, angles that would normally be backlight I had a fun day filming the event. Hope you all enjoy my coverage of this years A Day Out with Thomas.
The main reason I wanted to film this years event, was the forth anniversary of the Show Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends, which was my favorite show growing up. The show created by Britt Alcroft, would air its first Episode in 1984. I started watching this show, at a young age on Shining Time Station and VHS. My favorite Narrator was Ringo Star, those were my favorite episodes. George Carlin would be my second favorite, and I enjoyed watching episodes from both Eras. . I stopped watching the show around the Alec Baldwin Era. Growing up in the US, I would have all the VHS's from Thomas Gets Tricked, all the way up to Thomas & the Magic Railroad. Which was also filmed at the Strasburg Railroad, with Norfolk & Western 475 which appears in this video.
BEDT 15 was a 0-6-0 Tank Engine Built by HK Porter, INC in March of 1917 for the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal. It would be purchased by the Strasburg Railroad in 1998, and restored to operation. Cosmetically it was restored to resemble Thomas, for the Strasburg Day Out with Thomas events which it has operated since 1999.
I ran into @DroppedSignal various different times that day, around the Road to Paradise.
It was a fun weekend last weekend, on my last visit to the Strasburg Rail Road for 2024. As I now edit my 475 video, this weekend if all goes well I should be chasing Arcade & Attica 18 on it's first excursions since 2017! After that, I look forward to various different Fall Foliage and Christmas Train Excursions. If you liked this video, please give me a like and a subscribe for more train content.
