Saw this video was shared on the Deadbolt subreddit, and I'm glad I checked it out. I always enjoy hearing other people talk about this game. I've actually got a lot to thank this game for since it's what helped introduce me to my current circle of friends, as well as getting me interested in speedrunning (even if it's still only really directed towards Deadbolt). Also, a couple small corrections because I'm pedantic like that: vampires are formed from being betrayed by a lover, not by betraying a lover, so you SHOULD actually feel bad for them, actually. Also, the minigun demons are called Patriarchs, not Slaves.

I first played Deadbolt at a time in my life where I didn't know what to do, I was very tired, and often felt alone. Needless to say, it was the perfect time to jump into the undead slaughter and beautiful, sad world the game provided. I love this game so much I even bought the soundtrack on vinyl. Thanks for covering this amazing gem of a game!

one tiny mistake. vampires are formed by betrayal FROM a lover, not by betraying a lover. i think it’s a small but important detail that makes them feel sadder

I love the lore of why you become different type of undead, gives the world more depth- like the fact that Liches get high from resurecting others as they essnetially temporarily feel life go through them as an example But yeah- some missions are pure bullshit, mainly the middle vampire one where if you are too slow you turn to fkin undead cocaine. But ost is fkin awesome. Blood on the Dancefloor, Hemolysis, Now I become death and The Choir invisible are my favourites. Ps. Check out Boolus, his mashup titled Red Dancefloor, slaps even harder

Heck yeah, wouldn't have minded a mention of the speedrunning side of the game, as well as hundreds upon hundreds of custom maps on Steam Workshop, but this is still a really well made video. A detailed overview of the game's visual and mechanical design, the many routes for levels to be completed in, the variety of weaponry and enemies, the music - a successful crash course, if I may say so myself. Also this video was the final straw for me to start fixing the wiki, because God is it inaccurate. You've still got a lot of things right through your own research of in-game text and world building, which I highly commend, but still.

If you hide behind cover and let the bouncer fire, and then punch them while they're reloading, they'll be properly stunlocked and can't shoot you. The sledgehammer bone brigade boys can be dodged by moving towards them when they start sprinting. Consider this my thanks for mentioning the music.

So happy to see a good video about Deadbolt! Hopefully this game will spike enough attention over time that Hopoo finally make a sequel or a prequel. The worldbuilding and the style of this game are so good that I managed to make an online text based roleplaying game with my friends based off it, with a very few tweaks.

Finally, a solid review on deadbolt. And yes, the music slaps/absolutely ties together the light and loose narrative. Like the final boss music is tge best I have ever heard in a videogame cuz not only is it good, but just fits. Even though it's 16 bit But that's deadbolt. Simple, clean gameplay where everything ties itself together neatly. On a somewhat related note, ever try streets of Rouge? Another good game, but opposite side of the spectrum, like a bunch of cause and effect situations just mashed up and your goal is to basically profit off the chaos.

I always said it, people only favor Risk of Rain 1 and 2 soundtracks because they haven't played Deadbolt. Deadbolt is Chris Christodolou's masterpiece. Break of Dawn is a gorgeous song that depresses me for being single. The Great Beyond is a John Wick song. Now I am become death is nothing short of the best ambiance music ever put together, I used to listen to it when I came to my dorm room from university on Fridays to unwind.
