The reason you cannot get any achivements even though it is in Iron Man. Is most likely because it is not "your savegame" but another steam users savegame.

I've had that issue too on my own. If you load an Ironman me from an automated. you can't get achievements.

A tip for those who play singleplayer Germany and cant kill UK: Dont invade the Uk throught the english channel, just invade "Hull" from one of the ports near denmark, this route doesnt cross the channel and hull is almost never defended, by the time the AI react you'll be close to London. The invasion probably wont go off instantaneously but give it some time, make sure to have your ENTIRE fleet on the 2 zones, tyour fleet will likely die but its not like they matter, as long as your divisions make it ashore and dont get intercepted you wont need boats anymore. Seriously, this is extremely easy, most of the time i kill the UK before france because it takes longer to do around the maginot than to finish them.

You can just bomb the navy with your CAS and the UK ai navy is death. The next semi exploit is to keep territory in Africa since the UK will move some garrison units there.

@@TrashskillsRS if you bomb their navy you cant steal it though. the areas you need to go through to get to hull i find arent too heavily defended so you can just throw a few boats in for supremacy and rush. early uk is also easier as they have divisions in africa that cant be used on the isles.

I find it's not so much the location chosen to invade, it's just the AI gives the Home Islands a low priority unless enemy troops are taking tiles from it. So when you invade the UK before France, the reason you find it easy is that they might have like 90 divisions... of which 85 are chilling in France. They won't even start to evacuate until you've landed and likely already taken several tiles. By that point you probably pummeled the few divisions that were in the UK into submission, got several ports, and are pushing onto London. Same trick applies with any other theater opened up. If North Africa was a pitched battle instead of Italy all being Italy and wrapped up at the time, he'd have found the UK similarly undefended instead of most of their army sitting there. If he waited until Italy attacked Greece he'd find the UK had abandoned the Home Islands to pummel Greece's supply into the ground. He basically chose the worst time to invade, with France capitulated and no other theaters really going on so they had nothing to do but defend home. Where didn't matter so much as when.

When i did see all the empty research slots, i knew it was a fck up on purpose with the intention to send it to Rambler all along. I know this method from Legend of Total War. He also had big issues with peoples not sending him real disasters but fake ones.

I dunno, I can believe it. If the player was a massive newbie, thinks that his bad industry is fine, thinks his empty air force is fine, has wasted 600k manpower trying to walk his infantry divisions through maginot and doesn’t understand why it’s not working. He gets overwhelmed and stressed out and stops paying attention to research or anything, and then finally gets naval invaded in the netherlands and thinks that it’s d-day and that he’s going to die. Sees it as a total disaster, doesn’t understand what’s happened, ragequits, and sends it in to see what Mr Rambl can do with it. And it turns out it’s barely a disaster.

Yeah, I don't understand why the launcher got updated either. The hell was wrong with the old one? As for the cheats, he might've used the console at one point. Which nullifies ironman. As always your videos are great though!

Regarding the launcher i think they wanted (paradox) to have all their games in one launcher so they did it. And horribly failed. Im still waiting for someone to bring the old launcher to new ver. Of the game. W

Alex, when your troops are encircled at a port and are getting attacked don't just let them die. You can select them and rightclick on another port and they will retreat.

To my understanding the slow paradox launcher is a result of increased anti-prating measures on the dlc. When you open the launcher prior to your mods loading and the playsets folder opening, the launcher verifies at a large depth all of the dlc files and then determines if you have them at all and it takes forever and is annoying as can be. Great video btw!

What it seems to do is log you into the paradox servers since the logging takes fucking years and then only after it has logged you into paradox can you play the game.

The only thing good to come out of Paradox abandoning CK2 now that they have CK3 is that they haven't changed Ck2 over to this shit launcher as well so at least the CK2 launcher remains and is infinitely better.

This is the first time I've ever seen anyone attempt to Sealion at Dover ever. Basically every Sealion in HOI4 videos ever is from mainland Germany to Hull. There was a really wild one in a Bo video recently from Spain to Cardiff but that's a huge outlier as well. I can't imagine why you would think doing the Dover landing would work given the strategic landscape of that area but I also think you knew you'd saved the game at that point and just didn't care anymore.

Go north of Dover works like a charme norfolk is a level ten port, plus one gets dover and the airfield in anglia, one click an london is stunned so no ai 30 units spam or so.

Speaking about the mod menu for the launcher, mine doesn't even show up sometimes or says I don't have any on or installed at all and then it takes another 5 mins for the game to start because turns out the launcher was broken and TNO or some other big mod was actually on

I have the same problem with the mod launcher too. I have about a one in ten chance of getting it to work. That's one of the main reasons why I haven't been playing HOI4 for nine months now.

Ironically I've almost never had a problem with the launcher, guess I'm lucky. Also you can change a save from ironman mode and vice versa, just need to have binary save mode or something off and you can edit the save files as you would a txt file

Don't underestime the Italian AI. In my last game I was playing as Canada and got my troops to defend along the Belgian border. Held until mid-1941 but then the Italians came up from the South(I was helping the French defend but it was a much smaller army and got there too late anyway). Tried to get to Dunkirk but my army was spread from Dunkirk to Luxembourg, and the divisions already in Dunkirk were beaten back by the Germans and Italians, so the majority of my army(other than a few divisions in England)were encircled. D-Day happened later that year. I liberated Paris with paratroopers prior to the invasion reaching it, temporarily liberated Amsterdam but lost all my paratroopers there since the main invasion didn't come fast enough to help them. Was the first to Rome, Naples and Palermo(and directly occupied Rome)first to Berlin and Vienna(directly occupied Berlin), liberated Denmark and parts of Poland, became free, war ended, puppeted most of Europe and at the end of all that I had killed 1.3 million Germans while the Soviets had only killed 1.1 million. The war in Europe was over by 1943. Also my German puppet anschlussed my Austrian puppet democratically. tl;dr: italy did way better than germany and i was an absolute beast as canada

That supply issue is caused by your naval route not being secure. I have no idea when it happens because it sometimes happens to me when I don’t put my fleet to invade the UK but not always. Maybe it’s because you didn’t put your fleet on convoy defense and the British kept sinking your supply convoys

to make your launcher work a bit better, you're gonna have to remove a bit of unused mods and saves. It'll clear it up a bit. Still doesn't work as good but works. Steam > HOI4 > Workshop > on the right it'll say "your workshop files" > your files > subscribed items > and remove all or remove ones you do not want. Doing this and some clean installs can help with the lag but it'll always be a bit shit

About the modified save game, I’ve had that issue too once or twice where on vanilla with no mods it said I had a modified save. Not sure if it’s a glitch or some unseen error

I think it was mostly timing that ruined the naval invasions. The UK AI has a tendency to abandon Britain anytime it's focused on another front. Usually when you go for an invasion I've noticed you're just incidentally throwing at it when say, the UK is distracted and has most of its units in Greece. or North Africa. They will easily throw 90% of their forces into those theaters and abandon the home islands. This time however there wasn't a North Africa Theater as Italy was all wrapped up. There wasn't a war in Greece. Basically nowhere for the UK troops to be BUT the home islands. You might have been able to sucker them out of it with say, an invasion into Scandinavia. Watch them pummel their troops into Danmark and Norway like there's no tomorrow leaving you a run with only something like 5-10 Division in the Home Island instead.

My way of attacking Britain is just invade in a second place a little bit after the first place, Britain moves all of its stuff to the first one and the 2nd invasion can go wild
