It has been quite a bit since I've done a Dark Souls episode but I'm going to try and be a bit more consistent with it. The next video will be on the DLC so you can probably expect it to be even longer than this video. Hope you enjoy the video! Have a great day!

I've always thought of the crestfallen warrior's hollowing as him losing his only purpose, to offer a little bit of guidance and a friendly chat to new arrivals in Lordran. With Frampt being awake, his only bit of usefulness has been completely stolen.

Being in New Londo is like discovering lost history. The atmosphere, the cold wind that can be felt just through the sound and just the general loneliness.

I couldn't agree more! New Londo has such a sad ambience to it and the few people you find within it make that sadness all the more potent.

I played Dark Souls knowing the lore beforehand, and even then, when I reached lower New Londo... There is no words that can described how shocked I was

Sif definitely always makes me question my own existence. A sort-of Kierkegaardian "fear and trembling" victory. The dark wraiths, however, call me forward through the battle against her, painful though it may be, beckoning with all those lovely drops.

The stairwell leading to the boss is a great design, a literal recapitulation of the gradual descent into the depths of despair which characterized your trek through the ruins up to this point, and then a leap of faith with your only trust the ring of the man who was supposed to dispose of the abyss. Imagine if you didn't have a gaming guide to guarantee you that wearing the ring was what you needed to do before jumping off the end of the stairway, having come so far but to make an unsure wager in someone's advice and some lore.

I've gotten every achievement in this game and beaten it past NG7+ and I never knew that Ingward went up to Firelink if you talked to him after the 4 Kings. Thank you for helping me learn something new!

I don't think Sif is merely guarding the grave or testing the player - I think she's actually trying to PROTECT the player, making sure nobody else becomes corrupted by the abyss like her old companion. And yes, this does make me feel worse...

I absolutely adore New Londo, and loved this analysis of it, I'd now like to share a different interpretations on the Four Kings, as if this entire storyline wasn't tragic enough. A descriptions i cannot for the life of me recall at one point mentions New Londo as "a haven for the undead" and a place of great culture, this indicates that the Kings (funfact, in Japanese they're actually called Viceroys, that will be important later) were not at all bad rulers, and would likely not doom their city just for the sake of power. You mentioned multiple times New Londo's subdued nature, it was, under every aspect, subordinated to Anor Londo, and as I said in the parenthesis, the Four Kings aren't even kings, but viceroys. The Abyss only appeared after Manus' torture, and the presence of a bonfire in his cell tells us that happened only after the Fire started fading. I believe the Four Kings took the Dark Hand not out of simple power lust, but in hopes that it would be what they needed to get their city out of Gwyn's shadow, to claim humanity's turn to rule the world. We also know Gwyn ordered for humans to be sacrificed to the Flame in an attemt to keep it burning, it is likely that the sacrifices were taken from New Londo. The Kings, therefore, had more than one reason to wish for a rebellion against the Gods, and Kaathe, knowing this, took the opportunity to manipulate them into using a weapon which would further condamn their subjects, while they naïvely hoped to save them.

Your situation with Rickert reminds me how I always get rid of Nito first so Patches can immediately get to Firelink. I love returning back to Ingward after Four Kings so I can rescue him. He's such a goth gran'dad.

First played this game maybe in like 2018 or something, went down to new Londo because I thought that was where you were supposed to go. Died because I didn’t know you couldn’t hit the ghosts then I gave up and now dark souls 1 is my favorite game how time flies

New Londo is creepy for the same reason that Wet Dry World is. It has a liminal nature to it. Especially with the ambience and water sloshing sounds. The abandoned cities and distant unreachable parts of their world and skybox, add to this feeling.

Thorolund in japanese also has "Londo", its been weirdly translated. You should take a look at those lore blindspots that have been created by unanalysed locations in ds2, like tseldora, aldias keep etc.

16:00-16:25. I understand if a person goes through life holding everyone accountable for every trangression, they would eventually be left completely alone. I'm getting better about when to give a second chance, but you have to understand I feel like forgiving society as a whole for their recent shenanigans would be like forgiving a crackhead who didn't go to rehab. I appreciate the souls video , but I don't owe you partcipation of any capacity .

@@ismellmandude6401 I felt he was comparing new londo to the way a lot of people become shut ins from pandemic habbits. you go out ,you don't see similar faces. people moved all over the place when confronted with isolation. I felt the video poster was speaking to me the viewer lol. But I don't really see it as my problem that we will lose bread and circus, or even our culture. We're better off seeing what's to come, maybe we can come back together rather than just honoring what our ancestors tried to do.

The Abyss predates the suppression of humanity, we learn in dark souls 3 that the og human knights had their weapons forged in the Abyss. So unfortunately i dont think your interpretation of it works
@gorrack102819877 ай бұрын
I disagree. I consider new lando to be the end of the games first half.
@Sporkonafork15 ай бұрын
That’s just not true. New Londo is definitely part of the second half of the game, especially because of the fact that they are Lord Soul shard bearers.
@gorrack102819875 ай бұрын
@Sporkonafork1 you can do it before you ever open sens fortress and I generally consider it more fun than anor lando and beyond. Objectively you are correct, though.

you need to tone down on the voice trembling. i get you wanna make the video a little emotional, but it's overdone here by a longshot. this also is barely even a "deep dive" into anything regarding the area. you just sort of talked about it as if you skimmed the wiki and talked over it, with some random seemingly unrelated segments that had nothing to do with anything. didnt enjoy the video, but you'r doing better than 90% of other channels out there. just dedicate yourself a little more to "deep dives" or label the videos accordingly, if theyre going to keep being general glance-overs
