AFI so underrated. I’m 47yo Australian & only heard of them from a US girl a few years ago. The lyrics are amazing & the way they combine styles.

The beauty and intelligence of this song, that will never get played on the radio, be considered for a grammy, or just properly respected....sickens me.

I watched you go out the door With poise I'd not seen before I saw you shine, you shine I collapsed to the floor It promised it'd miss me more and said, "True love is mine. I missed you. Did you miss me?" Slowly, it's consuming me Deliberate and deep I can't take this deeper panic Teach me, teach me not to dream Dream deeply I haven't left here for days My panic keeps me awake as he unwinds inside He told me I should have known That he hated the way I'd grown to love soft lies She lied "Do you miss her? Like I miss you?" Slowly, it's consuming me Deliberate and deep I can't take this deeper panic Teach me, teach me not to dream Dream deeply [Instrumental] Slowly, it's consuming me Deliberate and deep I can't take this deeper panic Teach me, teach me not to dream Dream deeply Slowly, I'll swallow your fears For all of those years How could you let them consume me? Teach me, teach me how you sleep So sweetly Slowly, it's consuming me Deliberate and deep I can't take this deeper panic Teach me, teach me how you sleep So sweetly

This may be my favorite AFI song ever... ANd I've been a fan for almost a decade and a half. My first was Art of drowning, and I remember buying each album, loving it's individual flavor. I loved every minute of it, so much I could never pick a favorite song, or moment but this song... I don't know what it is about it, something about it, some untouchable quality just resonates. Before this I probably would have said Art of Drowning, or Black Sails was my favorite, but this album was something unlike any other AFI or any other music. It sounds familiar, like AFI, and touches of bands like The Cure, but this album is really something special.

100% agree, I love that I can listen to any album by AFI depending on which mood I am in. One of the rare band that changed their sound but still remained very good.

My first was Answer that, stay fashionable. Then the hardcore dropped, but their best ever was all hollows EP. But there new stuff is good for sure. Davey and the boys are extremely talented. Can’t make teen music forever. They grew into an adult band. Can’t wait to see them soon enough

Exactly! A fan should stick with their band no matter what direction they take. We're here to support the band..not turn our backs on them. AFI Has done so much for me...through their music and seeing them live, they have changed my life and saved it. I'll gladly support them on burials. Seeing them live..TOMORROW in Pittsburgh. So ready to suffer tomorrow night.

Jeez... it's been over two years since this came out and it STILL cuts me deep. I wished they'd played this when I saw them last... though to be fair, the album still had a few weeks before it came out. The funny thing is, that I saw them in 2001 and it was super cool, then again in 2009... but it seemed as though they were "Tired", which made sense as they'd been at it for a lot of years... though seeing them in 2013... THAT was the show I walked into 2009, thinking I'd get. It's like they didn't want to get off the stage. No lie, it was the best of the three, hands down.

I am so proud of them. I have been in the Despair Faction since I was 14 years old; everything I've heard from Burials has hit close to home. Their recent performance in Boston was staggering. They are back with a furious flame and it brings a tear to my eye.

I keep coming back to this album over the years, and find something new. It gets harder when the lyrics start to not just hit, but actually feel personal. But they make it alright the way this lifts my spirit from my chest into some euphoria that can do anything.

AFI is their own element. Don't try to classify it because it is a changing, near living thing. True masters of their craft, which is creating music.

I completely agree. It's a bit sad that most people don't look at things this way. They don't focus in the perspective that bands grow and mature, instead they just see that the sound changed and that's it. They never try to figure out why and how. I'm glad at least a few people around here are still appreciating AFI's music at a deeper level.

I'm pretty sure I didn't criticized anyone. I simply appreciate that new fans enjoy AFI's music to the point of listening to all their discography, and that they like how their music improved through the years. It seems you are bored, that's fine but it's not my fault so stop trying to twist my words. I don't have the patience to repeat myself over and over again just so you understand what I was trying to say. ;)

Are you deaf, or just not that much of fan? The band is growing strong in their elements, and the brutal honesty in the lyrics shows this. When are we going to stop judging them on past performances and continue to grow with them, like a family? Through our bleeding, we are one. I can't put into words how much i love this song.

Play "A Deep Slow Panic" on Amazon Music Unlimited (ad) I watched you glide out the door With poise I'd not seen before. I saw you shine, You shine. I collapsed to the floor. It promised it missed me more And said, "True love Is mine. I missed you. Did you miss me?" Slowly, it's consuming me, Deliberate and deep. I can't take this deeper panic. Teach me. Teach me not to dream, Dream deeply. I haven't left here for days. My panic keeps me awake As he unwinds Inside. He told me I should have known, That he'd hated the way I'd grown To love soft lies. "She lied. Do you miss her Like I missed you?" Slowly, it's consuming me, Deliberate and deep. I can't take this deeper panic. Teach me. teach me not to dream, Dream deeply. Slowly, it's consuming me, Deliberate and deep. I can't take this deeper panic. Teach me. teach me not to dream, Dream deeply. Slowly I swallowed your fears For all of those years. How could you let them consume me? Teach me.Teach me how you sleep, so sweetly. Slowly, it's consuming me, Deliberate and deep. I can't take this deeper panic. Teach me. Teach me how you sleep, So sweetly.

So go listen to the old stuff and don't bother with the new album. An AFI fan will appreciate everything they put out and support their evolution. A close minded Punk fan will keep replaying the classics over and over. There's a reason why a lot of bands die out after a few years; they keep releasing the same rehashed stuff with every album. I'm glad AFI always goes for something new while mixing in some old in choice places.
