This is called *pancha vanthiyam* which mean 5 instruments in kerala ..in Tamilnadu its called *kailaya vathiyam* ( kailasha instruments) most of instruments used in shaiva tradition in shiva worshiping. they way usage diff in each landscape in Kerala and Tamil Nadu

The one interesting part is, like a Rock concert, these Kerala Precussion performances will just get soo enhanced when alive. The players have a Rhythm in not only playing but in their movements too that it just simply moves the crowd so much. They are so powerful in moving the crowd in Rhythm

I would love if you guys could one day react and analyze the music of Madam Noor Jehan, an actor and singer who inspired Lata Mangeshkar. She was the biggest name of bollywood before partition of India. She then left India for Pakistan and rose to a status which can only be compared to Lata Mangeshkar's career. Perhaps Noor Jehan is the only singer who has a career of about 70 years equivalent to that of the the great Lata ji. Noor Jehan's music is very different than that of Lata's and directly enters ones heart. Lata ji learnt film singing by initially listening to her during her struggling years. I would really love if you could check out Madam Noor Jehan and then discuss about both Lata and Noor as both were reigning queen of music of India and Pakistan repsectively
