Essentially, our voice app transforms an Amazon Alexa device into a virtual dementia care companion. I got the inspiration from caring for my grandmother, who has dementia.
We help people with dementia remain independent and socially connected through interactive engagement. GG Care guides them to complete tasks using a series of questions and prompts from Alexa - breaking routines down into simple and easily digestible steps.

Really enjoyed your video and loved Grandma's participation for the demonstrations. I was telling my sister about this video and we both agreed that many of the things sounded wonderful. Our problem is that fact that even in her younger years, our mom just straight up refuses to try to learn new things and when we try to show her even the simplest thing, she gets pissy with us and basically just doesn't pay attention on purpose. Just like your summary of the video says "Everyone's journey is different". I'm going to check out some more of your videos.

Loved this video and ALL the ways that you showed how you incorporated the amazing Alexa products to help your grandmother live an easier and safer life. She is very fortunate to have you care for her. Loved the GG Care skill. It's a step beyond the regular reminder skill that Alexa offers and I can imagine it being used in so many different scenarios. The Drop In Skill that you mentioned is one of my favorites for family caregivers - I think it's so very important to have "eyes on" a senior especially if they have a chronic condition such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease. The sleep pad is also another great device that you mentioned in this video. Again, another monitoring tool. Great job!!!

@@GGCareApp We now have the Hue Bulb on timers and the remote, so Dad isn't sitting in the dark, Echo Show (refurbished), getting to grips with that, brilliant so far and looking forward to using the GG Care skill! Plug in Echo Flex and some indoor Blink Cameras! Thanks again and all the best!

Hi David - thanks for a insightful and well produced video. I'm implementing many of your suggestions and greatly appreciate you sharing your experiences. My mother has begun wandering, and I'm looking for a solution that will alert me when the front door is opened and triggers a camera so that I can see if it's her going out unaccompanied. Hi Sofia, Thanks for reaching out. It is heartwarming to inspire other dementia carers. We are working to develop a Spanish version and add multiple carers to the account, but these features are not currently available.

Why is dementia an epidemic now? I've heard good cholesterol is good for brain health, so why are elderly people given statins for good cholesterol?

Hi Julie, dementia is a general term associated with an ongoing decline that mainly affects the older generation. While there's no cure at the moment, there are many things we can do to slow down the process which has been outlined in the video. Hope this helps :)
