I've been making soap and bath and body products for about 2-3 years now and this is a wonderful, comprehensive advice video. One thing I'd like to mention as well is to not let jaded, crabby, and just generally nasty soapmakers that you may run into discourage you. I ran into one woman at a local craft fair and when I mentioned that I was a soaper too, she spewed so much bile because I didn't make hot process soap like her and because she didn't know my business, so therefore if she didn't know me then I was nobody. She claimed that anyone who makes bath bombs and sells them gets shut down and told me so much misinformation about Cosmetic Act that I just wanted to quit because I felt doomed. That's definitely where research helps because I researched everything she said and it was pretty much all LIES! Anyway, thank you for making this soaping community a better place, your videos are like potato chips, I can't just watch one!
@RoyalAppleBerry6 жыл бұрын
Honey that was haterism at it's finest! More than likely she felt your products were better than hers and that's where all of the shade came from. I run into that as well. It's a local craft fair I show at every year and there are other soapmakers there too. I'm totally cordial to them but one had the nerve to approach my table and say, "oh...it's you again!" I just shook my head and said, "yep". You keep doing you no matter what others say. Just take it as a compliment. Thanks so much for watching and commenting and I'm so happy you found my video helpful. Keep soaping sister!

You really can't emphasize researching enough. Even after you have been soaping for a while, you STILL spend so much time researching. There are always new methods and ingredients, it is always evolving. New soapers are so lucky to have youtube to learn from now with videos like these and soaping101 and soapqueen and such. KZbin wasn't really a thing when I started soaping and none of these soapers were posting anything at that time. There wasn't much to learn from! I got all my info from millersoap.com and poured over that site till I knew it ALL. Then I joined every soaping forum and read it ALL. And I'm still learning. Thank you for always being so cheerful and helpful! Love your vidoes :)

You are a very giving person. I think its amazing that you are willing to make this video for beginners. I know that some of the soapers are very closed and guarded because there are people out there that just want to use their videos for their own gain. I love that you are very admin about not stealing/using someone else's ideas. I also love how you emphasized about research because I know when I came to you about being allergic to coconut, you were knowledgeable about how to make a soap that not only I could use but others who could be allergic as well. As I always say YOU ROCK Kenny.

You all have blessed my life in such a big way, and without you all I really wouldn't be here, so it is my job to share my knowledge. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sharing what you've learned. It's so amazing to see others grow and that's the best reward. It is sometimes difficult to learn when there is no one willing to help. I understand not wanting to give away your recipe, that's one thing, but helping some find the right path to starting anything doesn't hurt anyone, lol! You rock right back darling, and you certainly hold a special place in my heart. Thank you so much for being you and supporting my craft. Great big hugs to you and your darling family!!!

Good stuff! Sometimes people can get lax, oh, I've done this a long time, I know what I'm doing, I don't need to put on gloves, etc. Lye actually is instantly corrosive with organic material, including old scabs and dry and cracked skin. You don't want lye in an open sore. Gloves are so important and inexpensive and available! Such a wonderful video to put up and with respect that people have for you in the industry I'm sure it is making a difference! Takes a lot of soap sales to reimburse an ER visit,

Hello Kenny this is Anna from PA. I know I'm joining the party late, I see this was published the day after my birthday and January of 2016. I watched your video and was pleased with myself to know that a lot of the things you said is what I'm doing. It's confirmation that I'm going in the right direction. Last year I became interested in making lotions, face creams, body butters, scrubs things of that nature. 6 months ago I accidentally started watching soap videos, and got hooked. I've been doing my research since November of last year. I'm Trying to gather knowledge of my products and chemicals and equipment I'll need. Before I make my first bar of soap . As you said doing a ton of research is key. Even with all the research I've done I still picked up a few things in your video. Even though some half hour videos are very informative the presentation is just brutal. Yours are very entertaining. Thank You.

Ur right about research. I’m a researcher before I do anything. And I got all the information possible. N I put together oils and butters that I was looking for and I formulated an awesome soap and I’ve never changed it since. I tested it one a few ppl w different skin issues and they are brutally honest ppl. Cause I love criticism I think that’s how you grow and do better. If ur a person who is afraid of criticism then u are afraid to grow as a person. But I’ve been using it for 2 years now and I love it.

Thank you for sharing all of this information. I have found out the hard way that not all soapers give out the safest or best advise out there. I appreciate your knowledge and love your bubbly personality too.

I have watched sooooo many videos and have just been soaping a couple months but you are, BY FAR, the greatest! Talented, funny to the point I'm using your terms like amaz balls and awesome sauce. Keep making videos bc I think I've watched everyone of yours at least twice!!!! I love your positive attitude and your laugh makes me laugh!! XOXO

Thanks for the video. You're so fun to watch! Just one thing about the mask, if it's the type made for DIY, it won't protect you from caustic fumes. These masks filter out dust but let toxic gases through because their molecules are much smaller. While mixing the lye water and the oils, some people hold their breaths / work near an open window or under an extractor hood. You can buy masks designed to filter out gases but they're quite pricey.

Hi. Mad Mica just introduced a sampler pack “The Full Monty” that included their basic colours, and mixes (doesn’t include neons or glitters). You can choose sampler size or 1oz jars. The 1oz is an investment BUT totally worth it; their pricing for the items are well under the individual jars. I went with the sampler size first and found I LOVE almost every shade so I have since purchased the 1oz jars. Thank you for sharing this FABULOUS video💙
