can you use a paper towel to go on top of the soil?
@sproutinggreeningandeating84934 жыл бұрын
Hi Zoe, if it is non chlorinated and it should be thin, so easy to be penetrated by the roots. When i use kitchen paper i always seperate the layers and use just one.

The leaves will grow again after you cut the stem?
@sproutinggreeningandeating84934 жыл бұрын
No, but there are still a lot of "too late, lazy sprouts" still growing so you can use it a second round. Simply don't cut the stem too deep. After the second harvest i trow the paper in the garden and there are still some coming up in the summer. Normally, i let them mature for the seeds.

If i dont have a pixi glass to cover the chia seeds, can i still grow it in a clay plate with soil and tissue while covering it with paper bag?
@roxville Жыл бұрын
You don't even need soil, actually! You can sprout them just fine directly on the plate. Plenty of instructions on how to do that on the net.

I think I used too much water, mine are growing mold not sprouting. Should I just throw it out?
@sproutinggreeningandeating84934 жыл бұрын
Hi Bianca Watering is experience. In the morning use a small indoor watering can to pour tapwater for 3 counts (seconds) and immediately pour it out. There will be enough moist for one day. When it is hot and/or dry you can water it twice a day. I will make a video recording on the watering.
@sproutinggreeningandeating84934 жыл бұрын
Perhaps what you see is not mold. When sprouting, most plants use root hairs to pull water from the earth. They are very tiny and all together look like mold. I will plan a video recording with a close up of the root hairs. When your tools are clean and your environment is not mouldy it should take a while before you start to see mold.

what happens if you do not cut them, will it keep growing? do they die?
@sproutinggreeningandeating84933 жыл бұрын
Yes they will outgrow the soil and die because they will have to compete each other for more soil, water, nutrients and light. When i'm finished harvesting i keep a few kale, basil, broccoli, etc sprouts for the airoponic tower or for the garden.

How much can you eat per day
@sproutinggreeningandeating84934 жыл бұрын
Hi Brandon, Good question. The maximum i eat is a quarter of the used dish chia per day. So one dish of chia provides me with 4 days of meals. Because i also eat other micro greens i do not grow chia more than 3 times a month. You should know that chia lowers the bloodpressure so people suffering from low bloodpressure or taking medicine against high blood pressure should be careful.

Why the plexiglass it is stupidp
@sproutinggreeningandeating84934 жыл бұрын
It's clever Natasha. It keeps the moist in, germs out and forces the root down in the soil so they will not entangle with each other.
